Food listing for POOPS 2010:

Hi everyone as you know P.O.O.P.S will be May 1st . There will be one meal this year. Most of the meat (thanks to our P.O.O.P.S fund from the fall) will be taken care of so we will be looking mainly for side dishes, deserts, casseroles, paper products, cutlery & drinks.

We will have limited outlets for crock pots if that is something you might be interested in, chicken & dumplings were a big hit along with that banana pudding. Keep in mind the number of people (aprox. 100) that will be attending when making your dish or dishes.

If you volunteer to bring drinks, paper products or cutlery please tell me the quantity you will bring, also the drinks will need to be on ice. I will also need 2 of the large drink coolers to make kool -aid & tea.

I will need volunteers to help with setting up the meal & cleaning up after.

Please PM me with Food in the subject line with what you plan to bring.

Okla-doodle-doo,

Aww, you are too kind; thanks so much. I'm not sure what type of Sheep they are. I have yet to see anymore like them. My husband and I got them from a local Auction and we didn't think to ask what kind they were - lol. It is nice to meet a fellow Nature and Animal lover.

It sounds like you have had a busy day thus far. Lots of chicks I see.. good deal. Yeah, I agree - it does sound like the Mother Hens do need a bit of a break. How fun though.. and the busy makes the day go by as well. Busy keep me out of trouble.. haha. Lets see today I have worked on the website for a few hours, gave Walter (English Bulldog) a bath, raked some hay, gathered eggs (about 2 doz) and now I am finally able to get some lunch in my tummy. Then later this evening it's auction time.

Thanks again.. and hope your day continues to be a great one.

do we need more food?

Not right now beth, just getting everyone to say what they are going to bring so we know what holes need to be filled.

Things on my wish list:

Pasta salad
greenbean cassarole
Pea salad
Yellow squash cassarole

I haven't had lunch today can you tell?

This has been an incredibly busy couple of weeks! I picked up some Brabanter chicks and Narragansett poults from Carla last saturday plus the Ameracaunas and Spitzhaubens I got from Cackle.

My first exp with poults was with hatching eggs, I had no chicks to put with them. I swore never again, I hatched them and then the trouble began. This time I just

them. They are the most peaceful mellow little creatures. Of coruse carrying them around doesn't hurt.

My button quail are popping out eggs like gum balls. I have not quite broken down enough to go buy an incubator but at this point building one seems a million miles away.

Still not sure if I have two hens together but one had a very small amount of red feathers coming in below the vent and I am under the distinct impression if there is any red any where that it a roo for certain.

I raised bobwhites with no problems once before but these guys are really daunting because of the size.

Kinda went from 5mph-120mph chicken wise overnight

Hey everyone, Popping in to say hi and see what is happening. Man things have been busy this week. Well at least for me.
I just got backfrom buying the meat that we will have at POOPS. I almost couldn't get it all in the freezer.
Can't wait to throw it in the Big Black Dragon.
So I guess we have the meat issue covered but I am sure we still need some side items.
Sooner has posted the list many times so people shouldn't have to go back very far to find it.
If you have questions just PM Sooner or me and I can let her know.
I know there are many folks that just pop in and read from time to time that don't post.
That is fine, but we need you guys to let us know if you are coming to the event and what you are bringing.
I would hate for anyone not to get to eat because Buckguy got in line first.
Can't believe it is only 15 days out.
Al, the eggs go into lockdown and countdown tomorrow. Say a prayer.
All, well most of all, of the chicks are heading to the mega extravaganza event that has become POOPS.
A plethora of breeds. Don't ask me what yet because I can't find the list. Lots of bantams though.
There will be lots and lots in a great big box and thats why it rocks!

So here is a repeat of one of my favorite Teach and Stimpy tales.

It seems the pair were working on a big barn to keep thier chickens in. Stimpy stopped to check on Teach to see what progress he was making and found him sitting in the grass and sorting through a large bucket of nails.
Teach would take one out, look at it and then either put it in his nail bag or toss in the trash can.
Stimpy wathced as Teach repeated the process several times but couldn't stand it any longer and said "Teach what in the world are you doing?"
Teach said " Well about half of these nails are no good."
"What ya mean no good?" Stimpy asked.
"Well the heads are on the wrong end so I have to trash em." Teach replied.

Stimpy yelled, "You big dummy! Those nails are for the other side of the barn!"
