were the RIRs from your regular or rose comb flock - or both? I have to admit that I prefer rose combs and pea combs to a straight comb - maybe because they are less likely to get frozen on the tips in the winter.

Another hen is hatching today as well. She had two chicks hatched, which I put into the brooder since she is still setting on a dozen or more eggs and one of the chicks was wandering off and going to get itself in trouble.

Durn Carla I wish that I knew you were in the market for peas. At the Prague auction there were about 10 or so adults going from 40 each for the blues up to 110 for the whites.

I missed 'em

Well, if anyone hears of some breeding age black shoulder peafowl for sale, I may be in the market for a pair or trio, if the price is right that is. Every since I saw Maribeth's black shoulder peas, I've decided they are my favorite variety. The other colors are pretty too, but .... something about their color and the fact that the peahens stay a light creamy color, I just love them.

If I had known a week before I could have gotten you a 3 year old breeding pair of black shoulder peafowl. The same guy that had the purple pieds had a pair he wanted to sell. If he has anymore later I will let everyone know.

Peaches has some Blue Americanas, Blue Splash Americanas, Blue Cochines,
Buff Orpingtons, Blue Andalusian, Buff Wyandotte, Black Americana and
Partridge Cochines hatching right now.

Welcome to the best place on the BYC!!!

Looks like you guys got chatty last night.

Sorry I missed out on the fun. Prom went great, my darling boy looked very nice & had a good time. Thanks for asking.

Today has been a really great day! After a wonderful message this morning, I came home to clean out the incubator from the last hatch & baked a peach cobbler for the pie auction. I had some wonderful Lemon/coconut cream pie, chocolate chip cookies, bannana nut bread & million dollar pie......I'm stuffed but the youth group made great money for FAlls Creek.

The threat of bad weather put a damper on the informal sale at Collinsville Saturday. Sold six (2 roosters and 4 cockerels) and bought some chicks. Buyers wanted hens, but I didn't have any to spare. I'm saving my extra girls for POOPS.

Doodle - I didn't sell your Barnevelders. You'll have your new lovelies at POOPS.

Matt - Was that you in the green hoodie? Sorry I didn't introduce myself and chat you up. DH was back at the car, without a jacket, and he was saying things like, "I'm cold. I'm going to sit in the car again. How long does this thing last? I think it's starting to rain. I don't know anybody here. Nobody's talking to me. Aren't you cold? I'm going to sit in the car again." I'm exaggerating. . . He never asked me if I was cold. Anyway, it turned into a business trip. I hope you had a successful day, and I'll be more sociable at POOPS.

I've got puddles with chickens in them. I hope we dry out by Tuesday as I've heard there's more rain expected on Wednesday. Spring in Oklahoma, gotta love it. At least it wasn't too windy.
