I agree... I go stright from the car to the chickens and get right to work. All of my girls enjoy helping me so I am lucky to double the time with the kids. By the time I get everything done its past dinner time and bathtime should be underway not to even talk about homework. Yonna is 14 so she does her own and I end up drilling poor AnnaBell up the steps and in the bath. Spelling comes easy for her thank goodness....
Summer summer summer where art tho??

Good afternoon everyone
Just wanted to update you on my problem turkey hatch.
As I told you I had my husband move the eggs to the hatcher way to early.
I had plan to toss the eggs and clean the hatcher to get ready to move some over next week. But I just hadn't done it. Told my husband as I was fixing breakfast the other morning that was getting done today. Went in to do it and there was a baby turkey. Then later that day there was another. Now after three days I have six and two peeping and one rocking. I may only lose four eggs out of the deal.
I have to candle a tray full Tuesday. But here is my question,I was told to move them to the hatcher at day twenty five and do lock down the last three days. But I was reading on dry hatching and they are saying candle at 23,move to hatcher and do lock down for the last 5 days.

Carla can you help me please or anyone that hatches turkeys?

I got called back to work next week but I hope training is Monday to Thursday so we can leave mid morning Friday. I want to go by my cousins and visit a short while and be at POOP by 5 P.M. I am bring chips and pop for Friday night and some hamburger meat to be use in anyway it's needed for either day.

Carla how many turkeys you got for me?

I use the dry method of hatching, with egg cartons/flats too. Only put water in my Brinsea 'bator when the humidity is down to 25%. On my own eggs, I've had a minimum of 80% hatching rate on eggs put in the hatcher at day 25....as you've done. First time I tried it, had 100% on 16 BBW eggs from eBay. Works for me.

If they're hatching late, you might try recalibrating your humidistat.....mine has a tendency to slip...and check the temperature on it, too.

Right now, I have somewhere around 60 baby turkeys running around, varying in age from 3 to 8 weeks; need to figure out a way to get rid of some. They're not purebreds; all are a cross of Calicos and Beltsville Small Whites.....thanks to my getting a roaring case of phlebitis when I should have been separating the breeding pairs. Since they're for my freezer, don't need to be purebreds. But, there is a limit to how many I can eat. And the breeding hens are still laying 3 - 5 per day

If I can answer any other questions, just holler. et

Below please find some fotos of one of our Japanese Bantam Rooster. We are wanting to trade or sell him @ POOPS.
We want him to go to a good home; he's getting picked on by our bigger Roosters.

If you are interested please contact me by PM, E-mail or my website. Thanks.

P.S. Please excuse the Watermark on the fotos...
When I upload my camera-card to my laptop I have it automatically Watermark them.
I am a fotografer and it makes it easier for me. So again, my apologies.

Hello everyone.

Beth I sent you a PM.

Well, we have a tornado watch out here in western OK. We went to town today to pick up supplies to do the house. It was cloudy but not raining. As soon as we pulled into town, it started raining. So we went out for lunch and wandered around Atwoods. We weren't able to pick up the supplies that we needed, but we had fun.

Stinky Are you sure thats a jap bantam? It almost looks like a large Serma! He certainly has the stance of the seram with those straight up and down wings and tail.I really like his color.

Well I got the yard mowed and wedeated again! And watered some more. Its so dry for spring, supposed to rain this weekend. Got the birds all fed and watered. Raised the header on the door of one pen after scalping my bald head three times!lol
I gotta go start the ironing. Catch everyone later.
