We had so much fun at POOPS, it was great to get to visit with all the people we don't see very often! We're still looking for a Bantam gold laced cochin rooster, if anyone has one but just wasn't able to make it to POOPS we can come pick it up or meet somewhere. Thanks!

@ Yonderoak

Nice website. Lovely colours and layout. We also love the fact that you have your Chickens in categories w/fotos... as we are still learning breeds.

We have been adding to our Ranch family for years because they were "cute or pretty"; it is nice to put a Breed type with a bird.

... that is an incredible Roo.
Thanks for sharing. Very interesting.

Very unusual. I had heard that hens could have a hormonal change and start crowing - in fact that was a sign that you were a "witch" in past centuries, if your hen stopped laying and started crowing like a rooster. I am trying to fathom how a rooster could somehow develop an oviduct and ovary.

Facinating. It will be interesting to see what the research shows about this fowl.

I wondered that very thing.... nature and it's lovelies never cease to amaze me.
I was so enamored with the article, I sent it to a few people and they were in all as well.
... and yes, I am curious about the research as well.

Hello All~!!!
Finally got back to the computer.
Put the chicks under Snapp last night, she took to them.
Momma found the egg eatter.
We may have two, but We've contained the one.
Sadly it's my Molly that's the culprit.
Momma watched Molly, when Snapp left the nest for a few minutes, go up to the nest and proceed to crack some eggs.

I hope you rented that van under an assumed name if you ever want to rent from them again...

!!

They don't say anything about not putting poultry in a rental van and I told them I was taking it camping and to a swap. They didn't ask for more details. I rent a van everytime I go to Oklahoma last time I had over 60 birds in it, wow when you say it like that its sounds like I have a problem.

Good Evening Wonderful Folks!

Been busy trying to get thru this day. No time for re-coop. Started out trying to unload vehicles, then went to sterling and picked up 4 roosters from a guy. Came back home and had to make a trip to atwoods.. DH went to scatter gravel for our neighbor while I tried to pick up the house. Now we are off to the Pizza place in apache with Jason, jeannie and kids. Gotta have my Pizza fix. Actually its a Baby fix with Priscilla that I need.

Hope everyone got to rest up a little before starting thier week.

Loved POOPS! I hope you guys all know that you are my adopted family....

Sorry that one of the silkies didn't make it. Fortunately, you have Blizzard and Storm?? that are full grown silkies from the raffle and they have already passed the "maybe they will, maybe they won't - make it" stage.

I don't always have very good luck with silkie chicks myself, so was glad to get the grown black silkie roo that Betsy had donated to the auction and the pre-teen blue and black silkie chicks that Teach sold in the auction. I put them together in the cage to go home and the roo has "adopted" the smaller silkies and is allowing them to snuggle beneath him at night. I was able to put them in an uncovered chainlink pen since they don't fly like the other chickens do
