The van had the canopy, a folding table, the observation beehive, Jaxon's frizzle old english hen in the new show cage and three boxes of baby chicks, the silkie rooster and the teenage silkies in one cage and two cages of rabbits, the bags that contained the things I took for lunch, an empty (really!) pet carrier, and a cage with 3 malay cross hens. . . . and Jaxon who wasn't about to go home with PaPa because there was still stuff going on. I had to send two cages of rabbits, a cage with two malay hens and a saipan hen, the camp chairs, Faerie's cages and the yellow pheasant home with my husband in the car. He had to help me to the KOA by taking a load in the truck that morning, consisting of a nest box, a huge dog crate containing two young buckling goats, and two cages of two month old chickens - that he ended up tying off on the open tailgate.

The partridge in the pear tree was between the front seats, fearing for its life.
Remember the discussion last week about tunnels of boxes in a garage? My van was sort of like that. You had to take things out in layers to keep it all from collapsing in the middle.

Did you notice that you made post # 62,000?

Good night all. This chicken lady is fixing to turn into a turkey unless sleep is quickly forthcoming.

Did y'all see the announcement at the top of BYC that says "POOPS on TV! Congrats Okies on a GREAT ChickenStock!"

I've spent the whole day on peacocks, paperwork and hotels.

Anyone know if a certain variety of peafowl is generally louder than the others and where's the best place to look for some? I have someone willing to mow my rural place and call me about break-ins and they want some really loud peacocks in exchange.

I've been looking at hotels for Shawnee. Wish I'd have thought about it when I was there and I'd have taken a look around. The kids and I are going to make a weekend of it, so I'm looking for somewhere with an indoor pool. I like the pics of the pool and game room at the America's Best Value, but the reviews make it sound frightening. Any place you guys would recommend?

I saw the news link. Really great job. We get the Tulsa stations here. I don't know what DH was watching, usually OETA or RSU, but they were talking about OK being something like 5th or 6th in the nation for people being without food. All I could think about was OKCs refusal to allow chickens and how much of an improvement having a few hens in the yard could make on that number. There's an organization, Heifer International, that works on providing livestock to poor families here and in starving countries. DS gave a talk last summer for them on all the contributions chickens make to families to help keep everyone fed. I wish the OKC city council could see the same is true there as well.

If someone knows how to pass it along to the gal that spoke on Saturday, I know they have all sorts of information and statistics and what not on the wonderful impact even a few hens can have on the health and nutritional outcomes of food poor families. http://www.heifer.org/heifer.html http://www.heiferfoundation.org/

Maybe
they can get involved and help out.

Goodmorning Poopsters!!!! Just in and out, just to let you all know, I just got all the stuff from poops out of my truck yesterday!!!!!! LOL Yeah, those pickle jars were getting mighty smelly in this heat!!! Well gotta go to work!!! Have a great day all!!! Lynn

Good morning all! It looks like it going to be another day. I'm not sure if it will be good or bad yet. Give me a few hours to wake up and we will see.

I'm headed out the door. Gotta stop and get some coffee or something to make it through the day.

We have stayed at this hotel. I wouldn't recommend it for an extended stay. It was really noisy. The beds were uncomfortable. The whole building smelled of chlorine. The staff is rude.

We ended up needing a room at 11:00 at night and this was the most decent and cheapest one available. Considering all we were doing was sleeping, we didn't want to be forced to pay for other amenities. It cost about $70 for the night. It was a couple of years ago, so things may have changed. Lauren was two at the time and got a hold of my cell phone. They refused to let us back in the room to look for it. After about an hour of arguing, they let us come to the door and call the phone. We heard the ringing come from under the bed and they retrieved it for me.

Maybe someone with more recent experiences can help you. I know that I will not stay there again.

Good morning fine Okies : I had an absolutely terrible day yesterday, and couldn't post. I almost cut three of my fingers off and it was bad really bad. I was making a cut with a circular saw which I just put a new blade on so it was nice and sharp, well it kicked back on me and rolled over 3 of my fingers on my left hand. My pinky finger is all mangled at the tip with no nail left on it, my ring finger has few cut's in it, but my Thumb was almost severed in half it has the deepest slice in it. After I cleaned it out on the job site with the help of 2 of my guy's they pulled out the big first Aid kit I always carry on the truck and we got the bleeding to slow and bandaged well. They hurt like h3ll but I did continue to work although in a much more diminished capacity LOL, we finished the job on time without missing a beat, and the guy's came through in the clutch for me.

The worst of it was when I got home and nurse Laura began pealing back the bandages to survey the damage, she freaked as expected and scolded me for not going to the ER, I felt the ER was a waste of time and the damage was already done anyway. She cleaned them for me and we stitched them up here, the pinky can't be stitched it is just all chewed up, anyway they will heal and be Ok just waiting the few weeks for that to happen stinks, I am more frustrated with myself for the accident as I have been working with high power tools for many many yr's and have never ever cut myself. Anywhooo it won't hinder me or my work and we even start another job today and yet another on Monday so all is good.

I will be out the door in a few so everybody have a great day,................ AND BE SAFE PLEASE.....................

I live in Shawnee, well outside city limits. I go into town all the time. If you could tell me about when you plan on coming I will swing by the hotels in Shawnee and take a look. There arent alot so it should be easy to visit all of them in an hour.
