Dustin is a little southish of Henryetta, close to Wetumka and Weleetka. There isnt a grocery store there though.

I like that the speed limits there dont change at night like here.

I thought TX was supposed to be wide open spaces. OK puts TX to shame in that aspect! And I saw more cows and horses there.

I used to drive a freight truck up to Eufaula and cut west thru Dustin and Wetumka. It was just once in a while that I drove that route. Real pretty out that way. Your right, there is not much out there but pretty land. I would think some people go west to Holdenville from there, also.

Kinda what I was thinking. Jaku in the meat bird section said it costs $400 to $600 to build one, so I figured this would be a good deal to start out. We are planning on doing 150 meat birds plus a dozen or two turkeys, plus 5 ducks, over the summer and that's a bit much for hand plucking.

Anyway, we decided to go ahead and buy it along with the scalder he was selling. I already have a scalder setup, but it takes some putting together. I'll use my current one for the big jobs and this one for quick jobs or emergencies, since you just plug it in and go.

Doin' fantastic. Place is coming right along. Made some great farm equipment procurements over the weekend. I ordered some electric poultry netting from premier and expect to get some birds in it on pasture by this weekend. Going to a goat field day on Saturday, picking up some goats by Sunday.

Life is good.

very busy here....
Just felt the need to give you all a virtual Hug....
Would anybody want to help me with some frizzle
polish eggs? I would hate to try and bator them
as my first batch. I would share chicks with who ever
wanted to do the work.

you have found a wonderful group of folks who either live in Oklahoma or wished they lived in Oklahoma

If you had stopped at the KOA in Choctaw on May 1 as you were driving in Oklahoma, you would have had the opportunity to meet over 100 of us as we swapped and sold poultry and visited and had a huge potluck meal together.

I am a Hoosier by birth, was a Texan for about 5 years and am now a 30+ year Oklahoman by choice

I do enjoy visiting Indiana and seeing all that wonderful rich black dirt and those rows and rows of crops planted on flat fields.

Hello!! Nice to meet you!
I read about the swap just yesterday! Bummed I missed it!!

I miss the pretty fall colors, and pumpkin patches and orchards of IN. We dont have that here....or big trees, or rain. Its so ugly here. I thought OK was beautiful and so green. We went up 75 to 9, so I had pretty scenic route. Im not sure my 15 yo dd and husband will like it there in OK. Dustin is by so much nothing. I grew up in the country in IN..so no big deal to me. I just want out of TX, away from town and close neighbors, and to homestead.

I was wondering though, all the homes we passed on the way there, where do ppl go if they need to go to town (there isnt anything in Dustin) or where do they work since so far from bigger towns??

Henryettais the closest town of any size and it is only about 5000 peope. Okmulgee is about 15 miles north of Henryetta it ia a little bigger.
Tulsa in an hours drive from Dustin. It is a big city (at least to me)

A lot of people drive to Tulsa for work. Some work at McAlester Army Ammunitions Plant,
There is a glass plant in Henryetta which is that town's biggest employer.
What type work will your husband be looking for?
