Maribeth I like the analogy, "Like kids", it is so fitting.

Some ducks like to be close to sleep. A 55 gallon drum cut length-wise and cut out the top should be more than adequate for their needs. (igloo look)

Chickens like a little space but sometimes will roost close side by side with another chicken they have become pals with. Ducks lay on the ground and will almost 'snuggle' especially in the winter months. I've had ducks that would move away from everyone else, some that would look for their buddies to sleep next to. I sometimes think that it is dependent on the individual birds.

thanks P&B and doc- my big issue for now is i don't want a coon repeat- never seen that kind of waste- anyway.... so it needs to be predator proof at nite, daytime isn't a problem... i like the fact they get along the way they do.... like best buddies-

Hello, y'all!

Just wanted to drop in and say congrats on your news coverage of the recent swap. I watched the video-too cool!

I grew up in Bartlesville (about an hour NE of Tulsa, for those of you who don't know where B'ville is). My grandpa raised Angus/Chianina's and ran the local feed store. We had chickens, of course. I grew up (way too young) and moved away at the age of 16. I'll be 40 this month, and just got back to my farmin' ways this past year. Grandpa passed before he saw me come around, but I've still got some family in Oklahoma.

Well, once again... just wanted to applaude you. The story touched my heart.
