some of my long time hens do this regularly - no apparent reason except perhaps she has a weak blood vessel near the vent that bleeds every time she lays an egg. Unless there is an obvious prolapse, I don't worry about it - but I have heard that you can put hemorrhoid cream on the vent to help with prolapse and that might also help with the blood streak.

Maybe someone else has some thoughts.

A little southern engineering there, eh?

One of the Hovabator turners got twisted when I stored it and the ends of the egg cups broke on several of the bars. Rather than toss the frame since the turner motor still works, I use part chicken sized egg cups and part quail sized egg cups with that turner. Lets me use the "Teach method" of incubating. When the quail hatch, it is time to move the chicken eggs to the hatcher.

We call this the Henry method of hatching we must of been born with this talent.

Thanks Maribeth~~I hope it really is no big deal--and I am glad that others have this happen too.

I read a few other threads here on BYC and a few of them say that an overweight hen can have the same symptoms--and of course I say "What!? Overweight hen? Not here!"

Yeah right!! Have you seen us!?? LOL! Fluffy butts all around!!

Not sure about your hens, but the roosters I have seen you bring to auctions are the most mamoth sized roosters I have seen! You must have a special growth formula.

We know how to grow 'em apparently!

I am worn out...going to bed! See you all online soon...hopefully tomorrow after installing some posts and getting some shade set up for the laying flock...and getting posts set for gates for the horse corrals...oh we have a busy day ahead...g'nite !

Here is what Ive been working on the past few days. Finally mostly done. Moved my silkies to it tonite.

I used old privacy fence, chicken wire, I even recycled nails out of the fencing, already had screws from another project, framing wood was free...took apart a shelf that FIL had made and put in shed. So free, other then sweat and cursings!
Oh I did have to buy the hasp and hinges, but I had got them a few months ago for something else then never used them.

It aint straight and it aint perfect but Im pretty proud of it.

Here is 1 side and the front has chicken wire. (Please pay no mind to the crap strewn about the yard. I have stuff thrown everywhere because I tore down our falling apart metal shed with large plans of building a very large chicken coop made out of pallets....havent gotten that far yet. But I have pallets all over the back yard)

Here is the back with the door. (And our inspector Oreo) I did some small spacing between the boards for ventilation and sun. Not shown is the other side that has some chicken wire and is more open.

Good Morning....

I have a nice pretty lawn and a nice little sunburn to go with it. I still have some work to do and other areas of the back yard that need mowing but its nice to be able to look outside and see a lawn and not a jungle.

We are having a family breakfast at my house this morning for Mother's Day. With working on the outside of the house all week, now I get to do a rush pick up on the inside of my house this morning.

Morning Okies,
Looks like everyone was busy yesterday.
It looks to be a nice day - a little cool and breezy - but that is better than too hot in my opinion.
Steph - enjoy those kids this morning - even if you are having to clean house and cook so they can tell you Happy Mothers' Day.
