I like the Cummins diesel just fine but their transmissions are a little on the week side, the powerstroke diesel on the other hand is tried and true, and every guy with half a brain knows you never buy a Chevy diesel heck they are worth more money if you take the engine out and just trade the shell. GM has never ever made a diesel worth a plug nickel that's why for 30 years you never saw a chevy or GMC truck with anything other than a gas motor, fact that is...................... just sayin.

Now ya'll are speaking my language. LOL The Powerstroke is a junk engine in my opinion. The new ones are getting from 5-7 miles to the gallon from the owners that I have spoken to and the maintence cost on them are through the roof. If you want to pull the pan for any reason they have to come out of the truck and from what I have been told it is rumored that the new Superduty has to have the cab pulled to get the engine out.

The BT6 Cummins in the Dodge is a tried and true design and can be built to 645hp if internal changes are made. They are in both busses and construction equipment world-wide. Now if it was coupled to an Allison 6 speed automatic it would be a very good combination. According to a friend of mine the '99s were the most economical getting up to 25mpg.

But there are changes on the horizon. Caterpillar has teamed up with Navistar to make a replacement for the P-stroke and Dodge is making a straight-framed 1 1/2 ton contractor's special with a built-in generator. The straight frame will make it easier to mount either dump beds or utility beds.

As far as ride goes I can install a full air ride on anything you have and I don't mean the old air shocks either.

I'd still buy a ford over a dodge, if the engine said "mattel" on it. The fact of the matter is that I hope that I never need a diesel. That would mean that I'm working way too hard and I hope that I am passed all that.

I have an old worn out 3/4 ton Ford sitting here that was last started in about 2000. Last summer we hooked the jumper cables to it and it fired right up. I hauled timber with it and was constantly pulling trailers and it did the job as needed with no major problems. Being a '72 it has drum brakes all the way around so stopping with a load was sometimes an adventure.

We also have a mid 70s 2 ton Ford with a dump bed that I am fixing up to haul hay and iron with. It is a very sweet ride with only about 30,000 miles on it.

I really dislike most of the newer trucks because of all of the electronics on them. If they fail to start or move after starting it's usually time for a wrecker and diagnostics by a dealer.

Speaking of catching the aquisition bug .... I've got to blame my latest addiction on Les & Teva

Within this past month, we aquired a komondor puppy from Waurika. We like her so much that we made a trip to Missouri 2 weeks ago for an AKC male pup with show bloodline, and then we even got crazier and went to Iowa over the weekend for 2 show quality females. Yes, we have a new addiction. I can't believe we missed an auction last night!

It sounds like it was an entertaining auction.

I am addicted to mostly just critters & auctions & garage sales & gardening. Fancy new cars are cool, but critters are the coolest

Good luck! Actually, we can only tell if there's something in there after a couple of weeks incubation and then with a good led flashlight. If you shine it in the top of the egg and see a well defined air sack on top and then it's darker underneath ... there's a chick growing. If you shine the light and there's a slight glow all through the egg ... nothing developed. If you shine the light and you only see darkness and the egg smells .... gently carry it far away and be careful that it not explode near you!
