OK DOC!!!! I do not want to start another war nor do I wish to be a part of any kind of family feuds seein as most of my ancestors came from the mountains of Virginia and Tennessee! I do have the Cochins left though!!! Let me know what you want to do!!! Lynn

Lynn, I have only shipped eggs once and not with good results. Plus the heat right now probably wouldn't be too good for them.
I don't have any extra chicks right now but if I can hatch some later I will keep you in mind.

If anyone had brought a camera to the Blanchard sale, I would likely have a new picture for my Avatar. The magic poultry van pulled home two trailers of wheat straw bales - hubby loaded the trailer we took in anticipation of buying 40-50 bales with 42 bales, took that trailer home and came back with another trailer and loaded the rest of the 85 bales we purchased. The inside of the van still had plenty of room since I only purchased eggs, vegetables and poults from Carla and Gerald and a couple of pet carriers and a few chicks that sold for less than 85 cents each.

Michael - thank you for calling that guy and asking him to bring plenty of straw bales. My rabbits thank you.

My hubby was pleased to go to Blanchard for a change, since we knew there would be bales of straw and he has been looking for some. He was also pleased to leave before the auction was over since I drug him to Mary's Swap meet early this morning and he had a full day of flea market and poultry auction. He did ask everyone what I bought while he was taking the first trailer of straw home

Hey Maribeth and anyone else still on line.

Just got in from Blanchard and have everyone settled in. It was nice to get to see Maribeth, Carla & Gerald, Al, Stimpy and his lovely wife, Michael, Stephanie & Carl and the Yonder Oaks folks. I always enjoy hanging out with my BYC friends. Whew I got out of there cheap tonight of course I did not buy several of the things I was wanting because the prices went to high. Did come home with 3 barred cochins chicks, a pair of partridge cochin bantams, two white and one black ameraucana hens. Oh and Maribeth thank you for the honey, we were almost out.

So I think I am good on ameraucanas. Most of flock now consists of cochin and ameraucanas with a few odds and ends. I am working on building my salmon favorelle flock and the bourbon red turkey flock is coming along nicely. I also seem to have aquired quite a few partridge cochins both standard and bantam. I would be willing to trade some of the partridge cochins for some birchen, mottled or golden laced cochins if anyone is interested.

Well I better head to bed, have a bunch of stuff to get done later on today to get ready for our mini break. Yeah!!! Everyone have a good night.

Good morning everyone - looks like we have a chance of getting some relief from this heat in exchange for some thunderstorms. Iam ready.
Did anyone else get to enjoy the harvest moon last night? Since we left Blanchard early, we got to enjoy the harvest moon on our way home. It was great to finally put a face with gb1 last night and visit with all the folks mentioned by Muesky, as well as Michael Daugherty. Sam was in fine form last night also and I think the single oe chick I bought came from OldTown (if I am putting the correct name with the BYC friend who explained what kind of chick I had just purchased)

On the agenda today is to install the backup wafer on the sportsman so that I can load it with the eggs I purchased from those brought by Gerald and Carla. I never hesitate to purchase their hatching eggs, because their flock is NPIP and their eggs have a high hatch rate. I put 18 eggs under the black sex-link hen that has been wanting to go broody for the past week. Maybe with real eggs beneath her, she will stay in the same nest box instead of going back and forth between the nest boxes on either side of the other black sex link that is broody.

I think this is a very good example of the muscle and versatility and imagination of the what is now Legendary MAGIC POULTRY VAN. Marybeth never ceases to amaze us all at what this thing can do, and she shows us often at every sale. Thanks again Marybeth for letting all of us in on the CO-OP Hay consortium we formed last night, that stuff is full of good seed heads the birds will love. I currently have Alyssa's heart throb out in the coop mucking pen's and turning compost piles heheheheheeee, hope he's too tired to ask her out for ice cream later
