Ah I thought you were kidding. If there are more than people want I volunteer my dad's place to go release them. 13.4 acres and no one is living there since he had to move to Kansas

Stupid GM. There is... a swampy area? It used to be kind of a creek. Anyway, they'd have food, water, and shelter (a little shed thing).

Norman says this: (d) Except as otherwise provided, no person shall keep and maintain, or allow to be maintained any exotic or native wildlife or dangerous or poisonous reptiles.

That seems weird? What's it hurt to have a parrot or something? That would be considered exotic?

MY TSC FINALLY GOT CHICKS!!!!!!!!!!!!
yippiechickie.gif

They didn't carry any last year, by special order only. Not that I needed or could afford more, but.....
they had some wonderful Bantam Cochins!
Well since I now have that handsome little guy from countyroad, he needed some more friends!

I also got the last three RIRs that they had.

So here they are:

Let me know what colors you think they will be! I love having babies again!

Graceful, we're going to try to go to the Blue Auction next Tuesday. We've got to see if we can take off work then, if not we'll come to the one the first week of May.

Mawchickkidie, we are going to try to make it to the Monroe auction, because we definitely have that day scheduled off. Where is the auction actually held in Monroe? Do they have an address that could be brought up on googlemaps or mapquest?

It's always exciting to go to an auction! Even if I don't come home with anything ... I like to see what things sell for & love to see what's for sale! And, I love a road trip!

The next auction is on the 18th and I will have to get the address from my freind as she lives right down the road from it. and I will pm you with it. I look forward to meeting ya'll. I will be taking some of my in-laws mix breed roos to sale. I'm so excited.

Let me know about the peacock progress.

Welcome to the BYC!!! Glad to have you, but warning you now it is addictive especially once you get mixed up with OKCarla!

My DH made me spend more than I planned to make sure we got her chicks at the Cement auction. But now that I have them I wouldn't trade it for anything in the world!!!!

By the way Carla they are doing great!!! The silkies come eat out of my hand already, still working on the Brabanters though. DH wants to caravan with you all to some of the out of town auctions if we can fit it in. Then you would have another truck to load all your goodies in that you are going to buy!!!

Cammie "Brewster" also is doing great! He is my little lap roo! He is currently living in our spare bathroom with our brooder of new babies. I think he already knows that those are going to all be his someday! He just sits outside the pen and watches them until I go in and kneel down then he comes and gets in my lap and watch them. He is absolutely adorable! Oh and by the way my mom is the one that named him, "Brewster the Blue Rooster" seems to fit him very well!

Hope you all have a terrific day!

serenitychristie, WELCOME! I'm so happy you joined our group of Okies! We have a great bunch of people here. If you would rather have some just hatched Jersey Giants ... I have some that hatched last night & this morning. You may rather enjoy the thrill of hatching eggs though! Let me know

I could meet you half way even, if you'd like.

Kaacres, I'm so happy you like all your babies! Yes, a caravan to the far away auctions would be fun! If Gerald would take his big old Ford truck, we'd have room in the back for you ... but it's diesel, and he refuses to drive it because of the price of diesel these days.

AUCTION WEEK next week!!!!! I think we are going to go to the Blue Auction on Tuesday, then the Monroe auction on Friday, and then Harrah on Saturday. I'm calling it AUCTION WEEK! I've had over 60 chicks hatch yesterday & today, plus more due this weekend. I must sell some chicks! Brabanter, Spitzhauben, Silkie & some Jersey (if Serenitychristie doesn't want them)

My two buff orp chicks I got from Countryroad are absolutely gorgeous! I love them!

Greetings all, I am in Noble, just south of Norman, I am a fairly new member of the forum, it is nice to see some other contacts from around the area and state. Currently I have a garage full of mail order polish chicks. ( that sounds a little scandalous) They are my first chickens to raise from chicks and I am excited to have found this BYC resource. FYI, I can only keep 3 of the 14, the extra hens are already spoken for but I may have some extra Polish roosters if anyone in the area might be interested, first they have to get old enough to tell them apart.

Bruce...welcome!

OKCarla...
I don't blame him with the diesel prices! I know we probably can't make the Blue auction, since DH has to be up before dawn to go to work, but I may be able to talk him into the one in Monroe. I think we are going to sit out Harrah this week, but maybe try for the next one. I will PM you when I know for sure about Monroe and maybe we can follow each other down. I hope!

I work in Downtown Norman so I usually get my feed from the feed store on Porter a few blocks south of Main St. I think their prices are high so I might check out the Noble Trading Post, Where is it located? Thanks for the tip.

Wow are you talking about Ellison! I know I looked into horse feed and they were way high but haven't checked on the chicken feed or scratch.

Noble Trading Post is located Highway 77 as you are going toward Slaughterville. It is on the west side of the road just South of Noble Vet. It is also called BBM and they have a big red LED message sign, you can't miss it! Their 25 lb starter is $6.50, 50 lb Scratch is $9.27 and 18% Laying pellets just went up, it is $10.10. When I switched my hens over to their feed they started laying up a storm! And they are the nicest people to deal with!

Hope this helps!

Edited...Just called Ellison they have 50 lb bag of scratch for $12.50 (2-25 lb at Noble would be $13.00 because they don't care 50 lb bags)
Ellison Pellets $11.75 Noble Trading Post $10.10 savings of $1.65 per bag.
Ellison Scratch $10.75 Noble Trading Post $9.27 savings of $1.48 per bag.
So depending on what you are buying might be worth it.
