Had a blast at the auction and really enjoyed meeting everyone, What a great crew we have here!!

Jiena (My wife) doesn't handle the heat well so has proclaimed that it will be much cooler the next time she goes to an auction with me LOL But she did enjoy meeting everyone and it was her first auction it will take her a bit to get the addiction,

I didn't get as much as I was hoping for the rabbits but I knew going in they might not bring much so that was okay also, Michael got most of them I think and if you have any questions about the breeds just PM me.

I had to sit on my hands a few times I really wanted to bid on and take home more birds but I'm committed to not buying any till I finish the new areas so I can keep them safe.

I learned a lot also from the BYC'ers about selling at auction this was the first time I ever took anything to sell so will be better prepared the next time.

I am looking forward to the next auction I can attend and I'm sure it will be to buy some more chickens among other things LOL

Had an interesting trip home got pulled over in Blanchard for a headlight being out and when I gave him my insurance form it was the old one that ended on the eighth of this month the new one was at home on my desk and then he pointed out that my drivers license had Lexington misspelled as Lecington I just renewed it last month and hadn't even noticed, the officer was really nice about it and just gave me a verbal warning as we laughed about the typo then got pulled over again for the headlight when I went through Lecington and I told him that I had just got pulled over in Blanchard and that my verification for was out of date he laughed and handed them back to me without even looking at them and said just be safe and get it all fixed, I couldn't believe I actually ran into two cops in a row and both were just really nice about it not giving me a ticket so I'm thinking that any other time I would have gotten one and the reason I didn't was it was just good luck to get to hang out with the great folks from BYC :)

LOL you addicted me to the best place in the world. Nice warm friendly friends. Lots of nice kids for my kids to play with. (my babys aren't the best Mannered kids but they have been alone so long with no real friends.) Airel was hurting all the boys in football I told them she was a manly man and to watch her. (being raised with 2 Really rough uncles and 4 male siblings shes learned to be tough. (Just a little to tough sometimes) my friend dave had a blast. hes my best friend and a wheat, cattle farmer/rancher.
MG nice to meet you

Buckeye was really nice chatting with you.

Al you sir are truly my hero you probably just saved me from a long road of headaches you are so darn intelligent it amazes me.

Micheal Sorry I kinda pawned that fella off on you but I didn't know squat about pigeons and I know your the man when it comes to them thanks for helping him.

Okcarla and the hubby, I just have a few words I want more TURKEYS and more and more and some more please. your birds I have gotten thrive so hard they take to the trees to get shade they forage nicely (the BR's) the silkys are Just so darn sweet and cuddly I wanna hug em kiss em and call em George!

June good to see you.

Muesky Hope you like that feed I would predict my feed to be all legal and official in about 2 weeks or less I will Post when I Have recieved my commercial feed licence. Sorry bout the net next time throw something at me hate to make friends pay more then what things are worth.

Elwood very nice to meet you.

Poultry you make me smile your so nice thanks for you and muesky teaching me the ways of the auction If i could only now quit getting anxious and stop double bidding myself, (Its like the left hand goes up says memememe then shortly after the right hand joins in glad they dont keep accepting my bid hehe)

As i stated I had a situation at my first auction where my money went all wrong and I was broke trying to make bids today I came in with an objective and I accomplished that I lost out on my sex links I really wanted But I was prepared to pay everything I had and the kitchen sink for some cochins that was a success twice. Disappointed about my turkeys didn't know i was buying muts. good news is it all taste like turkey. Its almost 2am I just got everyone situated and made the neccisary changes for my new quarinteen program. also disappointed that they PO my bid on the big cage of guineas 3.50 each was plenty good apiece imo think they wanted 5.00
Well I better make one last feed and water round and get some rest theres alot of building to be done in the morrow. Thanks everyone and again I had a great time there.

We are getting to the rabbits pretty heavy have some qustions about your set ups. do all breeding rabbits need to have there own cage? Or can you stick all breeding does in one cage. if not breeding all the bucks can stay in one and alll the does can stay in one.who do you sell your hides too?

Adult rabbits need their own cages. Mature buck that haven't been raised together will fight and you will have a buck with his throat bitten and torn. Females can be like chicken in establishing a "pecking order." The one at the bottom rank will have to fight to get to the food dish. I double and triple caged NZ does when I got my first breeding herd and didn't have enough cages yet. I don't recommend it for breeding age rabbits.

Robin, beautiful family pics. Keeping Zoe in our prayers.

It is RAINING!!! Went out early about an hour ago to feed and run a guinea hen off her nest, but had to postpone half of it. The thunder rumbling in the distance quickly became an occasional close lightning strike. We need rain so, so badly, as do most of us.

Wish those auctions were in our neck of the woods. Would get to see more Okies.

morning betsy, i hope that rain gets down here!

p & b - your package is on the way-

update on cubans cockeral- so far looks like he'll have a bump on the leg that got broken, but he is getting around with a slight limp, but has no problem finding high places to roost..

off to do chores- lesson on making shelters- choose your wood careful, my beautiful banty shack is coming apart.... weather extremes haven't treated it kindly

Good Morning Okies!

I had a really great time last night visiting with everyone at Blanchard last night. I got to meet the new okies as well, MMPOULTRY, ELWOOD LIGHTFOOT, MJ MAX, and I hope I am not missing anyone.

My SF's were all excited last night. There were several older kids there last night and while we were buying chickens they were playing football. They really enjoyed themselves.

Sooner, my boys really hit it off with Matt. They said he was a nice kid and they loved playing with all of the kids.

Doc called as I was leaving and He asked if the sale was over and I told him know. He ask why I was leaving early and I told him I had to leave before the NN sold. He just laughed. If I know he was going to just laugh, I would have sneaked those home with me. LOL

Well, Hope everyone stays cool. Dont know how hot it is getting today, but I am sure it will be too hot.

Peaches

Good Morning,
It was so nice to meet so many people at the auction last night. So many friendly folks and alot with a good sence of humor!
I truely appreciate how everyone so kindly shares their knowledge. I am learning so much.
Related to that - How is it that there are so many teachers in the chicken community?
MJ
