several breeds have feathers on their feet...go ahead and plan on getting about 100 of each...it is the only way to be happy

Ivy the adilt dosage for Tylan 50 is 1/4cc for bantams and 1/2cc for standard sized birds. So about a drop would be good for a chick.

Glad to hear that Lucky made it through the night. You were very attentive catching the problem that early. Good job!!

I'm so glad to hear that Stimpy is doing better. I've sure missed him up here on the thread.

WE got the red and white barn in this picture from a friend in Commerce, Texas. We brought it north on a trailer. We felt a little like the Clampets. It is very nice and solid. Right now it is a garden shed but is too small for the mowers and tiller which are taking up space in my garage. Wouldn't it make a great chicken coop? - ust need a bigger garden "barn". Then I could get more chickens..........!

That is wonderful....I'm writing all this down in case I ever need it later! Lucky tonight is eating, drinking, more alert and trying to groom herself. She seems to have more pep in her step too. Still doing the wierd breathing but not nearly as bad as lastnight. There has been a marked improvement since Noon today!

And it is so close to the run too. Would not take much to just sneak a bit of fencing over to fill the gap, cut a pop hole and you are set!!. Of course that will leave you with an extra panel that is closest to the shed. Well just turn it 90deg. cut another pop hole and you have room for a second breed!!!

Chicks are bad about piling when they sleep. Most of the time they suffer no ill effects but sometimes the ones on the bottom will over heat and then they are sick. 99% of the time you will just find deceased chicks in the morning and wonder what happened.

The number of chicks in a brooder doesn't seem to matter either, I've seen them pile up with as little as three chicks in a brooder. It's a comfort thing I think.
