I have a saipan hen that is currently in moult. She looks bad, thought she was sick until I got a better look. I still have a few birds that haven't regrown all of their feathers.

hmmmm...makes me wonder- are birds molt a hint of winter weather? like dogs get thick coats?

i got one of our persimmons and cut the seed- here is what it shows

I can only do it by selling a couple at a time

But I don't like having so many to take care of during the winter, so selling some is what I must do!

I still feel bad about selling the two Partridge Cochin Cockerels I sold at Blanchard last month. I saw them sitting together in the cage and I wish I could have kept them. They were so tame. I still have their brother and he is about the sweetest bird I have, loves to sit on my shoulder. Well, I bet it won't be the last time I do that. i now have 22 birds! and I know I have to make choices to get the flocks I want.

BUMMER! I'm sorry that you lost him. That is alot of fence to go thru! I dread that happening here. I might be too sensitive, Then again, if I catch a chicken thief of about any kind I could blast a hole in em easy.

I think I will have some Mille Fleur and Partridge Cochin chicks for POOPS. I started a Lavender/Self-blue project but all but one are only 3 weeks old.
I live only 3 miles from the KOA and pass by there almost every day. I was at the last POOPS only for about an hour. If I only knew then that I would love chicken so much!

That there is a spoon, get ready for lots of snow!

I know my birds started moulting earlier this year than i've ever seen them start before. I've not cut into any perssimon seeds yet.

In Michigan we always looked at the width of the middle color in the Wooly Bear Caterpillar. The one I saw last week had a wider brown middle than the black front and back ends - cold, long winter. - Noooooooo! I don't mind the snow, its the ice I hate!

Hope all are staying warm tonight! It got pretty chilly here, with only my little electric heater! One of those nights when you need to pull up another dog but I only had two and they were already under the covers and shivering!lol
Is anyone going to Afton this weekend? I helped my niece sort out her birds this afternooN? We are taking some the Brushy sale and meeting up with some more of our group. If any of you in that area can please try and make it so we can have a good get together!
