Well I just got back. After eleven and a half hours at a chicken show I can honestly say my legs hurt.
LOts and Lots of pretty birds there. The Britt buff Orps are huge. Donnie I think you will be happy with the pair you got.
Great time at lunch, almost 30 of us pigging out.
Met a few new folks and got to see lots of old friends.
I got some supplies, some hatching trays from Carl and two big black hens from Ropo that are gonna put a twinkle in one of my NN rooster's eyes.
One thing for sure about chicken people is they love to talk. Not sure how I fit in since I am the shy silent type.
Beth kept me in line by keeping me away from Teach.
Al and Charlie had their game faces on and I think they made some great strides in their respective breeding programs.
Betsy's silkies were gorgeous even though I am not a Silkie person. She also did well with them in the show.
I am rethinking the FOO FOO line since I saw two Silkies that were priced at $200 each.
The big Malay rooster was the most impressive bird I saw today although that is just my personal taste.
Lots and lots of good birds there. I expected nothing less.
I met the King of Naked Necks and learned a little bit more about them.
Anyway this is my short version of my day.

OK, Grace and I made it home. It was good to see everyone we got to see.

Got to get out of here and finish setting up for our church Christmas Cantata in the morning.

Our 1st chicken show! I really liked the turkeys...my daughter liked the gamies...my wife LOVED the silkies, and my son LOVED the snack bar. His buddy that came with us bought a bantam orpington? didn't even know they had those! I sat and watched a bantam RIR pullet, for at least 20 minutes. My wife (AKA the bank) happened by at the second I decided that I couldn't live without this pullet...I snagged it for my daughter and it was instant, poor little girl will be wearing a diaper and watching cartoon network, wont even remember what it was like to be a chicken in 2 maybe 3 days tops. The show birds were awesome! All of them, and we loved the Jersey Giants and HUMONGALOID Buff Orps! My daughter still has not decided on a breed she wants to go with, so far we have had EE's, OE's and now this bantam RIR. Judging by the sweet disposition of this chicken, I think its a done deal...RIR may be the ones. Met a lot of folks, if I don't remember the names, just chalk it up to chicken overloaded newbieness

Our Shawnee Report: Went to the show this morning with my husband, got my two GLW from Coral via Donnie. Beautiful girls! Thanks both of you! We discovered one of our hens is a silver laced wyandotte

, felt really dumb but was excited! Picked up two Delawares from another lady, then had to leave to buy truck parts, yuck! Returned this afternoon with my oldest and youngest son. Since we have a buff wyandotte rooster we were checking out the hens and a lot of the show birds were for sale. We some really helpful people in the Wyandotte breeders club and when my son told the owner of birds he wanted to buy two hens, the man asked if he would like some bantams to take home as well. His name was Dave something, I can't remember the last name started with an F. He is the secretary/treasurer of the club. He gave Jonah a pair of Columbian Wyandottes and a pair of bantam white rocks and a free junior membership to the club. Jonah was thrilled. I decided cute kids are a secret weapon when acquiring chickens! So overall today we acquired 10 chickens and saw some very interesting poultry, love the stand up ducks!-
