Harrah Auction:
Gosh, I wanted to meet Cheryl, aka Summerwindsfarm ... maybe next time! I agree with you about the auctioneer needing to say what the birds are when they come up. There would definitely be more bidders that way. Sometimes the auctioneer doesn't know for certain what the bird is though ... especially if the seller isn't there and the cage doesn't indicate the variety. The man that is #1500 is known as Pat (I think) and he resells the majority of the birds that he buys ... he sells at Mary's Swap Meet, and I hear that he is considering starting his own auction. He sits to the side of the auction ring (out of sight) and usually starts the bid, so if he wants it ... he usually gets it. Another thing that bothers us about the auction is if a bidder tries to bid and the auctioneer says sold at the same time ... I think it should be opened back up again, not closed. It would benefit the intended buyer, the seller, and the auction house if the price goes higher.
Lisa, aka Critter was there and bought some of my white guinea chicks! Thank you Lisa! Oh, and thanks for introducing me to the lady with peacocks!
Monty, aka Buckguy20, I definitely want some of those eggs. Also, I'll check to see how many phoenix pullets I have.
Yes, the Harrah auction was definitely the place to buy but not sell anything this time around. Gosh, if I'd known nobody was bringing chicks, I'd have brought some Jersey Giant chicks, and some Ameraucana chicks and maybe some Brabanter and Spitzhauben chicks ... although with the prices so low, I'd probably PO'd & brought them back home. I'll just get some more pens built & let them grow a bit & maybe sell some later.
