Beth....

The way you explained this is what I have always thought of as a sport.

All,
For the OE Bantam guys anything that is a result of blue breeding that is actually a splash is reffered to as a sport, this is the common term applied to the splash of many blue varieties of OE. Although they are really just a splash if they were any other breed. The OE breeders refer to them as sports.

Well y'all are just weird.

Let me get a few more of the Aframes made & everyone moved around so I can have a nice area for them. We are all doing good, just fighting the spring colds. Still plugging along on all the clean up!

This may not be the place for this, and if not, I'm sure someone will let me know. I'm located just off hwy 82 half way between Locust Grove and Peggs.

Last October I ordered a bunch of chicks, my theory being they'd grow up over the winter and be laying by spring. My theory worked well as I'm getting 19 eggs a day suddenly.

However... in early December I was diagnosed with stage 4 cancer and ordered not to enter the coop. My poor daughter works full time, is raising 2 kids alone and now takes care of me, my dogs and my chickens. She was recently offered a job in Hawaii, with her current company. She wants to take the job and wants me to go with her. This means relocating all my chickens, 1 dog (14 month old Brindle Boxer) and selling my property, quickly.

I ordered my chicks to get a colorful flock and a colorful egg basket. I have 41 chickens. My order was for all hens, but of course, there were a couple roosters in the mix. The Speckled Sussex is very sweet. The Sultan... not so much. But the Sussex is large and in charge.

I don't want to auction them and have to ship. Anyone interested in a large flock?, or is trying to lump them all together a mistake. I just need them to go to new GOOD homes ASAP.

My dog is a brindle Boxer, female, 14 months old, housebroken of course, loves kids. I wouldn't trust her around the chicken though.

My direct e-mail is [email protected]

A few of the chickens getting up and out in the morning.

So, my miniscule hatch yielded me 2 bantam malay and one brasilmo (

). Pretty stoked about the malay as I'm down to a lone pair. Just hope I can get'em grown.

This fall I'm gonna put the cock over some standard pullets then breed down in size out of their offspring. Late hatches ought to help me on keep the size on the small side.

No, when you breed a blue over a blue, you can count on getting around 25% splash or sport, everyone has their own terminology on it...they are expected, that is why a lot of people dont breed blue varieties, and even fewer breed blue over blue. You breed a brown red to a lemon blue, you only get brown red and lemon blue, no sports, you only get sports with blue on blue, or if you breed a sport to a blue, or sport to sport...or splash, however you prefer...

Thats the first time I've heard of a splash being called a sport. I've learned it as being black or white that crops up out of a wheaten line. Then there are throw back patterns like you get in game fowl. Splash is normal when breeding blue to blue. I am one of the breeders that does not breed for splash in certain breeds like my cubalaya and asil.

cuban is right a slash and sport are not the same when you breed blue to blue you can plan on getting splash a sport is when you get one that is not the color you though you would get like when you breed black to black and get a blue it would be calld a blue sport or when you breed white to white and get any other color then white it is a sport A SPORT IS ANOTHER MANE FOR OFF COLOR splash is not a sport or an off color but a APA reconised color of it own

I know that there is a boxer club in Tulsa that may be able to help you adopt the boxer out. If you can't find contact info for them let me know & I will get it.

I'm sure someone here will help you! by the way, a thought on your dog, you could take her, she'd have to go in quarantine, but they have visiting hours in case you want to take her- be praying for you!
