I thought this might be helpful on breeding blue birds.

Blue X Blue = 50% Blue, 25% Black, 25% Splash
Blue X Black = 50% Blue, 50% Black

Blue X Splash = 50% Blue, 50% Splash

Black X Black = 100% Black

Splash X Splash = 100% Splash

Splash X Black = 100% Blue

You posted in the right place. It is easier to sell them individually. You might also try craigslist. Give it a day or 2 for some more of the Okies to see. You never now, we might be able to downsize you if not help you get rid of all of them.

it has been my understanding that a splash is simply a light off colored bird from a blue breeding, where a true sport is a cleanly colored splash, as in no black and very little blue, like a blue brassy sport hen is solid white with a salmon colored breast, a blue spangle sport hen is solid white with a red breast tipped in white...you replace the black on a bird with white, and as long as the color is clean, its a sport, if theres a lot of black or blue or others colors throughout the bird, its a splash...a sport over the black parent variety will give you your best cleanest blues...from my reading that is what I had deduced, but I could be wrong...sjarvis could clear it up...I could be wrong, wouldnt be the first time..

Changing the subject but--isn't it fun to go to the chicken pens this time of the year?? The guineas are laying this week-- Ethel has laid three eggs so far(peafowl hen) I just take my Easter basket and go gather the eggs..................

I love this time of year, not only for collecting the eggs but to see who is going to go broody on me. I had two but one didn't stick!

It will only be the second one held here. I am happy about having one so close to home. It went kinda late last time & I didn't buy any poultry or sell any so I can't tell you about it from that point. Might help if you ask me questions.

Talked to my scatter brained brother this morning, apparently my neice's test was an echo, not an angiogram!!!! That make sooooooooooooo much more sense. I puzzled over that all night, why on earth would they be doing an angio on a newborn. Anyway tests were good, they have decided she is getting heart burn when she eats, so instead of giving her antacids after she eats they are giving them before, they started that today after the echo and she ate well. Soooo

Wasn't Donnie or Poco looking for sussex specked? Those are some good looking birds Pelican. You might want to replace that again late this evening when more people(usually a different crowd) is on. I'm sure some of our folks will be i nterested.
I'm tired! Got home at 4 am ithis morning! I went and picked up the goats that I found on craigslist. They were not full pgymy but bigger so I decided to go ahead and take them to a new goat sale I heard about. It is north of Bowling Green which is 35 minutes north of us. They said its only 30 minutes or so past Bowling Green.! You know how far you can go in thirty minutes on an interstate!ALONG ways!lol. And this sale is just starting and everyone in the whole state of kentucky brought goats and sheep! There were over 5000 head!So I ended up driving over a 100 miles all together and staying till 3 and finally getting home at 4! But it was well worth it. Made a weeks wages in 22 hrs so thats not bad.
Now I have to go mow ! then get ready for the chicken sale tomorrow!. Be back later.

Happy Belated Birthday Joe! You aren't old yet, still just a spring chicken! Wait till you get spurs as long as mine!lol
