Are possums a predator to chickens? Last night, took the dogs out and they ran like crazy towards the new chicken tractor with the cochins. Drove something into the woods and came back with something limp in their mouth. My first thought...Oh no, a racoon or something killed one of the chickens, then went over to look and it was a possum. Called the hubby and he killed it, felt awful later because it had babies in its pouch. But is it big enough to go after chickens? I don't think it would of with the babies, not that I stopped to think about that last night.
