Good advice Lynn, glad to hear you had a great weekend, amazing how a little alone time can make such a big difference. We do date nights whenever we can and that works for us. LOL now you just gotta get better at the Casino thing LOL, I know a guy named Vito who can help LOL.

My granddaughter actually got in trouble for saying an egg comes from a chicken's butt. And I really think the teacher was afraid to ask where bacon and beef comes from. Teacher wanted the kids to know these things came from the store but my little sweetie changed her lesson plan. LOL Double LOL Ask her where milk comes from, her nana taught her that as she has watched Teva milk goats.

I volunteered to come up and talk to the kids about food production but the school didn't think that was proper.

when i was in california one time meet some people that thought meat and eggs just came from a store or mikey dees
told them the cows an chickens they see is where it really came from lol
to top that off they thought us okies still had covered wagons an fought indians lol
some people have no clue

BRAVO!!!!! I am all for it!!! The kids should know where their food comes from, all six of my kids knew more about animal production before they went to school that some graduating from high school now days!!! Heather was so excited when they got to hatch eggs in her class, she got to tell everyone in her class how they hatch and where the eggs come from and how to hold them and such, she was so proud of herself(she is 6 in Kindergarten!!) seeing as how we have an incubator and brooder set up in the living room and she has to name at least one out of every hatch of which we have had uuuuuhhhh 6 0r 8 so far this season!!! LOL I love kids, even when they drive me crazy!!!! LOL Lynn

ok guys i got a question for ya

of all the treats and high protein feeds we feed our chickens whether its for show or just plain pets , has anyone ever used or thought about the use of duckweed as a source of geen protein ,

Leaf protein concentrates (LPC) and the residual pulp fibers were extracted and analysed by E.A. Faskin, Federal University of Technology, Akure, Nigeria. Duckweed LPC was 64% protein, while the residual pulp fiber contained 20% crude protein. The LPC from duckweed was low in lipid and fiber content. Generally, the content of phytin, tannin and other extractives was lower than in the original p

here is some more nutrional info on duckweed
http://www.mobot.org/jwcross/duckweed/nutritional-composition.htm

please give me some thoughts about this , im really leaning towards it , since it grows so fast and only needs like two inches of water to grow

Someone that Gerald works with mentioned duckweed and possibly using it as feed. Myself, I haven't found it to grow that easily. I have quite a few tubs full of water lilies and rarely does duckweed take off in it. I think maybe it needs more nutrients and oxygen than a tub can provide. I guess if you have the right environment for it, you could make it work. But then, I'd worry about mosquitos unless you could control them with fish or biological treatments. If you had fish ... they would eat the duckweed, or at least my koi and goldfish sure do think it's tasty.
