So you plant sweet potatoes this early every year?.. I never plant sweet tators till late june.. guess i learn somethiung everyday..lol

Sweet potatoes are a tropical so to speak. Between the 1st and the 15th of May is when my 87 year old MIL says you are supposed to plant them...You won't see much top growth, but the roots are developing. And they are to be dug or the vines removed before a freeze or the sweet potatoes won't cure or keep properly. Done it her way for 10 years and only had one crop damaged by late fall rains. Have had some taties you had to butcher...big as footballs...but still very tender and not stringy.
Adding: we like Beauregard, Jubilee and Georgia varieties best for Oklahoma.

Didn't work in the garden. I thought if I turned any compost in, the dirt and compost would be in Kansas!!
Took Thor out of ICU where he has been since Studley beat him up. I had used wound powder on his head and it dried the scalp too much...enough that his eyebrows were drawn up and his good eye lids drawn up so high that half of his eye was hidden. He could still blink, but I pulled out the black salve and neosporin and slathered that all over his head and comb after washing his head. His line of vision is improving in his right eye, but it looks like his left eye is cloudy... and he is not responding to stimulus with that eye. Looks like Studley did a real number on Thor.

Hand fed and watered him and then put him in a pen on grass so he could "graze" and stretch his legs and wings. He is in a "step-down room now...an airconditioner cardboard box decorated with pen-up of pretty hens. Gracie (the Australian Shepherd) decided that Thor was her charge today and she would not let anyone closer than 10 feet of him...dog or human. When I picked him up to put him in the box, Gracie was right there, head under my arm to make sure he was okay. Funny how dogs know another animal is under the weather.

Had to brush 40 knots out of my hair before sitting down...and that was with a hat on all day. ...the winds are still hefty!

I got mine at Lowes. I potted them up into bigger pots because the nine pack had too small a cell. When I plant them out, I will dip the roots into a bucket of water and gently comb out the roots and then make a cone of soil in the bed for each plant, spread out the roots over the cone and then cover the roots about 2 inches. I keep the bed really moist the first week by watering every third day, then every 5th day the next two weeks.

I wish I had some grass to mow, this red clay country is sure slow to grow grass...

Sure wish I could send you some, by the time the ground dries up enough for me to mow it will be up past my knees!

Now that's hilarious!

...don't forget my favorite!

"I'LL DO IT IN A MINUTE."
Translated: "That means I'll do it when I get around to it, no matter how much it needs to be done, and it will be at least an hour before I get up off the easy chair."
