Way to go!!!! Awesomeness!!

I have fed Game Fowl most of my life, they like a little higher protein feed, I put dog food in my evening grain and keep egg pellets in front of them all the time, fresh water is a must for egg production as you well know I am sure. I buy the Ranch Hound dog food from Atwood's, it is a nice size they can eat and I mix 1 gal 15% egg pellets, 1gal Regular Hen Scratch grain to a Hunt's Spaghetti Sauce can(26.5 oz) of Dog Food and a Tuna can of Oyster shell. I mix this throughly and feed a Campbell's Soup can grain mix per 2 birds every evening and I keep lights on mine from 4:30am till 6pm every day! OK so everyone knows my secret feed mix SSHSHHSHSHSHSHHHHH don't tell nobody!!!! LOL Lynn

see lynn thats what i find crazy about them

i keep auto feeders full in my pens , and i feed layer pellets , calf mana , oats , little chopped corn / or scratch , soy bean meal 48%protein , along with oyster shell free choice , and then i also add in cat food which is 31 to 41 % protein , and i still give them vitamin mineral water , and scrambled eggs , its like they hold in all the eggs they can but as soon as i let them out they will go nest somewhere and go broody on me

so i know they are getting plenty of protein and probally more than they should lol , they just hate pens i swear

I told a guy at work that the Farmers Almanac said so in late March and he told me was stupid in beliveing tha stuff. I plan my fishing trips around that book.

City people!!!!

well the were right this time- not to mention the persimmon forcast- i am a firm believer in those persimmon seeds after this year! also, accuweather was mentioning the possibility...

I am sure believing it, it also said an above average wet spring also.

we actually managed to get into town today- the main roads weren't bad, but getting to the main road is an adventure in itself!!

All this talk about game hen feeding has me confused. Penny and X-Hatch get a little game bird feed mixed in with layer crumble, but mostly it's just layer crumble. They get greens (salad leftovers mostly) and grass when it's not covered in snow, and cooked egg now and then, and oyster shell is available but they never touch it, and that's about it. When the whole flock gets a warm-up, like oatmeal and plain yogurt, they get that too. They haven't complained, and their eggs are wonderful and plentiful, so I think I'll keep it simple. Maybe I'm too new at the gamey bird thing. Am I hurting them with a regular hen diet?
