You have found a wonderful group of folks who either live in Oklahoma or wish they lived in Oklahoma

Disclaimer: some of the folks on here are addicted to hatching chickens, attending poultry auctions and acquiring fowl of all varieties. Since addicts tend to be "enablers" we may try and entice you into sharing our addictions with us.

Mark you calendar for May 14. We will be getting together in Fletcher (down by Lawton) for a day of visiting, eating, swapping/selling poultry and an auction to raise funds for the event. It is a great way to put faces with screen names and we have had a wonderful time when we have done this in the past. It makes it more fun to go to auctions when you can visit with folks you know from BYC.

Back in the "old days" they used a bean. Do you have one of them handy?

Sure !! ............ but I was thinking about a little plastic chicken I have that is really small.

AL

A little plastic chicken in your King Cake ~ in lieu of a plastic baby ~ seems perfect for a chicken addict.

King Cakes from a bakery no longer have a plastic baby baked into them - something about liability and non-food items in food.

Welcome to BYC were located in Okarche just outside kingfisher.

So after talking with the State Doctor Herring, and the State vet of texas who does most all of our testing for our birds. I still have a healthy flock. I did battle a round of northern fowl mites and goodness they spread so rapidly and take so much out of the birds. He did mention a lack of nutritien in the chicks I sent. Not sure why that would be. there fed plenty on a chick starter I have been adding vitamins in there water as suggested.
We just rounded up all the birds and Used ivomec pour on as suggested and Sprayed all coops and nest boxes Eradication appears to be successful.

I like the little chicken idea!

Big Brother is getting a little too close for my taste, when he's standing in my kitchen watching what I put into the King Cake.
(Not that I personally would ever actually be baking in my kitchen

Yes, my birds were set up right next to Betsy so we got to visit quite a bit. Got to say hi to some other BYCers...I saw Donnie, but did not get to talk. Had a very busy, but good day.

Hello - brand new Okie member to BYC. I'm in Beggs, OK - that's southwest of Tulsa and northwest of Okmulgee in case you've never heard of it!

I have recently inherited a flock, and am now HOOKED. I've added to / expanded, etc. Currently have a mixed flock of 28 one-year-old hens with two roos. A combo of barred Rocks, RIR, ameraucanas, black star and two turkens. My younger son fell hopelessly in love with the turkens and has asked for more

Soooo - I attended Chupps last Saturday and filled his wish

We now have four 3-mo old Turkens and 6 more Barred Rocks (fast becoming my favorites).

I also got (another) new coop there - I should be set for a while!

Currently looking for more Turken hens, though, and possibly a rooster as well. He thinks he'd like to try raising a flock of pure Turkens, and who am I to say no?

Soooo if anyone knows of any around, I could be interested!

Looking forward to getting to know folks on here.

We also have horses, ponies, dogs, cats, geckos, guinea pigs and lots of fun!

And to Al's nephew. Such an industrious kid,

you can sway him your direction. Kids liking to rebel against their parents and all that, you've got a fair chance.

to Amy and Karen.

Hmmm...thinking DS can give a 4-H demonstration about how to build a styrofoam bator and offer hatching eggs to any interested kids with agreement we'll take any resulting chicks they don't want/parents won't let them keep. Any thoughts?
