The rotating chicken run/garden the coop is in the center and has a access door in the floor (raised coop) the garden spots radiate out from the coop around it like spokes. Some garden spots they will only be in once a year (long term growing plants) others they will be in 3 times (short growing season plants) It is a combo of ideas, mine and some permaculture research I'v done. Eventually there will be fruit trees around each garden (8 per 50x50), a strawberry bed perimeter, and large asparagus beds lining the long term growing beds. In the next few years I would like to set up a 3rd and do grain/forage plants mixed w/ fruit bushes in the long term beds.
One of these days you need to post pictures, I think I can see it in my mind but not sure I have it right. I like the tire idea I might have to put that together when I get home today.....I had a few left over & that would be something I have at hand! Thanks for sharing!
Sooner- I did the tire thing with the potatoes last year and it worked great. Filling them with straw instead of dirt makes for easy harnesting and no dirt in the eyes. I was very pleased with that method. and old tires are practically free for the taking.

m.ruzycki, how many tires high did you get in one growing season?
Beth, my guineas aren't laying yet. They usually start in late April or early May. Could be a strange season this year. I lost three during the extreme cold weather this winter, but still have five hens, and they're all nice colors. I'm getting inquiries already for keets, but I'll try to bring you some hatching eggs at POOPS.
Guy Rose Auction is just west and south of Stillwater. I plan to take some silkies there again. There were quite a few chickens and guineas two weeks go when we were there. I didn't have time or energy to really look them over though, so am not sure of varieties or quality. They also have a large adjoining junk sale.
