my father was taught by an older indian that had a big stud he could do that with, I dont know near as much as either of them, but I did pick up on some stuff, have trained a few horses myself...never had the patience to really 'finish' one out but got a lot goin good...

I swear I cant go anywhere that someone doesnt know my father, I would have never guessed that someone on here had met him and been to his house. He hates chickens thought I was safe. LMAO

I am new to chickens, have been a hound and horse person all my life...

The next A frame needs to be the blue that is on her wall.... You know, to take away from the pink some...LOL...
Her room looks great, but I dont know how well pink and blue chicken coops will look in the yard. Oh well, they can be markers for finding the house.... Got to love teen girls, they always have the brightest taste in things.

I can't remember why I decided Pellets, but it was a "semi-informed" decision, I just didn't retain it.

Just wish I would have paid a little more attention to protein level. Oh well...need to get more anyway.

I like pellets cause they seem to waste less of them, they dont hit the ground and pretty much disappear...I also feed only once a day, I toss feed in every morning, and I also keep hay and/or straw in their pens, so they have to work and dig for their food, I like my birds gettin exercise....

Me too, i havent used many hounds unless I have to break out the deer dog to find a deer I shot with my bow and didnt do a good enough job. Lucy the bloodhound never fails me though or anyone else that has borrowed her always finds the prize.

We tried all different kinds last year to find something we liked and at a price we liked. Everybody has their own preference but we settled on Evergreen and United Suppliers to work for us. The evergreen right now is running $12- $13 a bag for 16% pellets. The United Suppliers is $10 a bag for 15% pellets. Our birds lay well, look and feel healthy, and their feathers have a nice sheen to them. We also noticed on the United Suppliers chicks starter we are not having any issues with paste butt, and the chicks dont pick at each other. So far we are extremely please. They make a 17% layer but so far I have only been able to find it in crumbles and we prefer to feed pellets.

Stephanie, yep its a 20% Hi-Pro Big V Layer Pellet....Kings Feed on Harrah Road carries that, and evergreen 20% layer pellet...along with nutrena 16% layer pellet

Yes & I look forward to getting to meet all the folks that I only get to talk to on here! That's what it's all about getting to hang out & talk chicken with the folks that we visit with on here everyday! I'm not even sure if I will bring any chickens this year but I'm sure Lil'Sooner will bring some home. LOL.
