If I hadn't bought the baby girls, I wouldn't have had the motivation to build the coop!

They started out in a giant plastic container in our house, but they've grown quite a bit. I moved them into the large cage a few days ago. Our garage is full of furniture for when we remodel my oldest daughter's bedroom, so I had to haul the large cage through the house from the backyard and into the garage. I had on heck of time getting the cage through the laundry room, which is small, and several pairs of my underwear got caught on it in the process. I'm sorry to say that I've had to retire the pair of pants I was wearing. Apparently, poke-y wire and fabric don't mix very well. The door leading into the garage almost lost the battle, too. I eventually got the cage and chickens settled in their larger area, panty-free.

Sorry, I don't have pics. I've been putting down new paper everyday, which might be overkill. I want them to stay healthy!

I don't know - a panty-enhanced brooder would be something to talk about...and give a new twist to the song "Blowin' in the Wind."

OKAY YAY ME!!! I got it out...in busted pieces but it is out. She squaked once and never even tried to fight me. She keeps wanting to sleep though...but I got some yogurt water in her and a little bit of yogurt but not much....Now where in the world do I put a chicken that is dark......Would a laundry basket turned upside down with a blanket over it work???

Get a large box or a room that you can cut the light. Just like in winter a hen will take a break due to the length of the day light. I would do a very dim setting.......Not sure what you have but you want enough light that she will eat & drink.

Of course, I outlasted just about everyone.

The girls are rebelling against the new living arrangements.

So Gary is going to pick up supplies to hopefully foil any future escapes.
