Robin with my layers I have hanging feeders and just refill as needed. About once a month I will add a couple of tablespoons of ceyenne pepper just sprinkled over the feed.

hmmm...no matter where i go they are all high- i get the scratch cuz the guineas like the seed, the ducks like the corn... the chickens are picky though- sometimes all they want is to pick sunflower seed out...
the price of scrach has been going up due to the price of corn going up because of making ethanul gas i pay 10.25 a bag now it was only 7.80 a few mounths ago and sence then the price of corn has gone throught the roof
still no feathers and is growing like a weed i keep it inside becuse without any feathers it has no way to stay warm when it get biger i will have to make it some cloths LOL
Thanks to everyone for the help....been hoping between the different pages, my hens have a very large area that they scratch around in and I am sure they are probably getting some "grit" there. Have not gotten the Oyster Shell yet, but I will next run to a feed store. I did get yesterday the 20% Protein for layers feed from Kings feed and mixed it in with the remaining feed that I had left. Hoping that by Saturday my hens will go off strike but getting all this other stuff lined up also. They have pretty much taken all the grass in their area so was wondering if I should throw in some leaves. My horses have alfalfa and I was thinking of shaking some in their run, but saw Alfalfa as a poisonous plant so curious there.
Michael do you deal in critters as well as birds? I got a good deal on goats today! Five pgymys for free.three bucks and two does. Would like to keep the does but not for sure yet.
