I just saw a weather update.
It is 4 degrees at Teach's house, 37 at my house and 50 at Al's house.
For those that don't know us that would be at Hooker, Choctaw, and Elgin respectively.
Windchill is already 21 below out in the panhandle.
It is sunny bright here but we know that looks can be decieving.

I am very tired of this winter weather.

Here, Henryetta is is beautiful sunny, blue skies, but windy and the wind is cold, not sure of the temp, but it seems to be above freezing things are melting anyway. I'm choosing to be like the ostrich (bury my head and ignore all reason) and believe w/ all my heart it is going to continue this way. Let's see if mind over matter works w/ mother nature!

Oh I almost forgot I had a question .................. How long does a chicken lay the pullet size eggs? As near as I can figure we have one hen laying (I'm guessing this b/c there is never more then one/day and all the same color and shape) but she has been consistant only missing a couple of days since she started. She has been laying for almost 2 weeks now but the eggs aren't getting any larger.

hi guys- read this blog from channel 8, apparently 12 inches is the 'moderate' snowfall-
http://www.newson6.com/Global/story.asp?S=13987952

The bottom line take away: snow is likely, and some moderate to heavy snow is a possibility. This system, however, could still throw a last minute curve ball if the GFS somehow verifies and moves the bulk of the snow to the southeast. If the NAM verifies, we're going to be in a world of hurt. The EURO, which is the model of choice, would support heavy snow in the 4 to near 12 inch range with some higher localized totals in a few spots. I have used a blend of the EURO and GFS outputs to fashion the forecast, and I have used a lot of prayer to help me say and do the right things for this system.

It's possible their lives will be saved by roosting in your barn because the temps are going to be brutal again after tonight's snow. A lot of wild birds perish in this kind of weather. Hope they are some of the more "desirable" varieties. I've read of somewhere around 2 dozen bluebirds freezing to death that had packed themselves into a pipe hoping to keep warm.

Gotta take care of the wild birds in this weather. With out us, so many would die. After the huge snowfall we had, there is nothing out there for them to eat. I've been feeding them and there are more showing up every day. I don't remember seeing so many different kind of birds in one place at one time. To look out the window and see all the colors in the white snow is worth every penny I spend to feed them. So many sizes and colors, from tiny little silver/blue ones on up to a pair of wild mallards, and a lot in between.
