Girls all tucked in, hopefully be able to make it out in the morning to check on them.
The baby chicks kept me up most of the night. They were cheaping and cheaping and I thought at 1 am, they must be cold. So I got the heat lamp from the snake (which is turned of at night, cause he has a heating pad also) and put it on the brooder. (The clamp light my mom had put on the brooder was a hallogen one) Withing 10 minutes they were all sleeping. So today I got a red one. They are happy as can be.
I also got an extra lamp and put it in the brooder in the shed so there is a white heat lamp and a red one, so that during the day it is a little warmer and they still have the red one at night. We will see how that works. They seem happier. I need it to warm up so we can play with the older chicks. I really want them tame.
How long do you quarantine? I have heard 1 week, two weeks, longer?

Well, I volunteered to take the late shift so a friend who lives even farther out in the country wouldn't have to drive at 9:00 at night. We don't ever close our offices, no matter how bad the weather or how dangerous the conditions. I figure the reason the library never gets to close due to weather is because the president of the union works there.
I will be once again taking my pillows and blankets in case I need to spend the night again.
Does that mean you are doing a really good job for the union and someone above you is not happy with your good union work, or that you need to renegotiate working conditions on behalf of the union?
No, it means I have the best job in the world but gotta have something to complain about. I got friends who will actually have to be out working in this stuff to keep it safe for the rest of us while I work in a nice quiet clean warm library surrounded by books. They don't much sympathize with my plight.
sorry to but in but Im really upset....
My blue orp chicks are not coming!!
I asked for one extra day do to the weather.
She said NO problem they are not all hatched
yet any way...
today I get an e-mail telling me she sent them

to set mine on SUNDAY!!!
What the heck...
OMG!!!!! I just got caught up!!! Like 40 pages later today!!!! You peoples can talk now!!! It is colder than a well diggers behind in January here, the wind is howling and I think if you spit it would turn to snow!!! Speaking of snow!!! Yep it is snowing here North of Stillwater!!! Just litely and is almost covering the ground!! I put in for vacation days for Wed and Thur just in case, they have not said if school is out yet but I think by morning it will be!!! We got fresh bedding hay out for all the pigs, put out an extra round bale for the horses, the cow has over half of one left. The chickens are all fed and given a good drink of water!!! My young White Leghorn pullets are all laying now, got 8 eggs from 8 pullets today! We got one that looked like it came from a 4 year old hen, it was huge, feel sorry for the one that laid it!!! Our egg production is still up in spite of the cold weather and the stupid cats getting in the feed shed and unplugging the light timer!!! I think we may come down on Fri night before the Poops and go to Lawton to MIL house to spend the night then up to Fletcher on Sat. Just FYI, my dad used to be the pastor of the United Methodist Church in Fletcher, I have a friend who's inlaws live there(Grubbs) and am familiar with the area somewhat but have never been to the FFA barn. It is about a 3 hour drive for us too. But hey it will be worth the drive I am sure!!! What do yall want me to bring food wise???? Lynn
I know how crazy it is when a school calls in the middle of the day and cancels...totally rough on jobs trying to get around and find ways to get stuff done and all that...But I gotta tell you...it ain't fun from the school end...not sure how a big school could get it done but we call according to the class you are sponsor of...then we start drawing straws to who has to take who home...then we get to deal with stupid questions...freshman comes up to me..."What do we do if our parents are here yet?"...Wait you idiot! I told his dad that...he shook his head and said he was sorry...I told him next time...eat it...many creatures do that with their young
