I'm grateful for the online family of Okie poultry enthusiasts. If I don't learn something new about poultry by reading this thread, I get to smile (or cry) along with the rest of this big, online, Okie clan.

I was worried about tonight's low temperature, so I put an extra flake of straw in every coop or nesting area. There was a lot of bossy talk from the hens about who needed to move over and make more room. The roosters just move. They don't answer back. Some of the hens are really protective of their little privacy bubble. Shoulder to shoulder is okay, but stepping on a wing is a cause for a verbal shakedown.

Kronk think go crazy.
See other Kronk talk like Kronk and other Kronk have Krank too.
Kronk wish other Kronk have two Kranks.
Kronk think trade Krank to other Kronk for Dodo rooster.
Kronk like roosters. Kronk need now find Dodo hens.
Kronk and friend always have finding problem like this.

Never mind. Krank say no deal.
Say can't stand two Kronks,
So she stay with first Kronk coz he is Kool!
Kronk happy Krank stay but Kronk still need
Dodo rooster and hen too!

Kronk cave no wet, cept when Mr. Fluffy pee on sabertooth tiger rug.

Kronk - did you see the Super Bowl commercial where they used a stuffed dodo bird to jam under the jail door as they were "escaping old luxery" ?

Thanks for checking on us Betsy. Yep, we got snowed in real good this time. Got extra feed yesterday, and are we glad we did. We had 13.5 inches last week and at least another 25 inches now. I've had about as much of this as I can stand.

Stayed inside till it stopped and then started digging out to feed.

The wild birds were so thick where we've been feeding them, you could hardly see the snow. The bushes and tree branches there had so many birds on them it reminded me of summer time when all the leaves were on the trees. They went through at least 20 lb just today. The geese were making their own paths by shoving their head into the snow, shaking it back and forth and moveing forward toward the pond. Then doing it all over again. Now that was some great entertainment. Pond was froze and they had to come back to get any water.

Sorry to hear about your guineas. Were they young ones? I lost one last night too along with an EE banty hen.
