Robin - I will try the milk jug watering idea. One of my duck brooders has a watering container up on a ceramic tile. That seems to be working, but the ducks in the second brooder keep lounging in the water. They take a mouth full of food, plant themselves in the waterer, and then bathe and eat mushy food until they are ready to get another bite. Adorable, but messy!

No Robin there is no such thing as Alergy's in chicken's, It is probably some form of CRD, the wheezing can be controled but if it is CRd I am afraid all you can do is provide temperary relief, but some forms of CRD are contagious and can spread quickly. Tylon 50 or 200 injected daily for 10 day's will stop the wheezing but it can and will return at any time and it maybe often.

well, thats why she is a house chicken.... it clears up and comes back.... once i saw her doing that i pulled her from the flock, have had her on tylan, but didn't seem to change it still comes back

you should see what their poop does to fabric- last year i had them on sheets- but the poop ate through- it really needs to be marketed for something! wonder cleaning substance!

That could very well be why she can't breath well, they need fresh air and sunshine, but I doubt that was the cause. There is no cure for CRD, Any Fowl with CRD are required by the state to be culled for risk of spreading the disease, it is very contagious and although some birds will not show symptoms they will be carriers.

well, now that the weather is nice she is outside during the day in a pen by herself- i fully agree now(used to not think that way), chickens need to be outside- the ones i have to shift out during the day are much happier and sure makes it easy to clean the house!!

Gotta get those outdoor coops done- did one for our lone guinea and nothing has broken into it- so now i need to get that done, and get homes for those dang dogs!!


nope- no ducklings or goslings inside ever again!! good grief! what a mess!

Robin : CRD is commonly refered to as MG, you may want to brush up on some research, it's very scary. I have known some folks who have had their flocks tested and Diagnosed with MG/CRD and the state AG Dept quantined their flock until they dispose of the entire flock. IMO it's not even close to attempt to keep one with it for the risk to the other birds, you should have it tested by a Vet, I am not sure if NPIP testers can test for it or not, sure would cheaper than a vet though.
