Evening everyone, I have a question. One of my hens laid an egg today that had a soft shell. What would be the reason for that?

just happens from time to time. If the birds are healthy, and have oyster shell available, nothin to worry about unless it keeps happenin​

Sometimes it happens but if this is something she does for a few days you might need to feed some oyster shell for extra calcium. Sometimes its a lack of nutrience in their feed but generally if you are feeding a good feed then it justs happens sometimes that the get a lack of calcium.​

You all nearly give me a fainting spell when I thought the group so gone. I started to say you almost give me a heart attack but that hits to closes to home.
I am still around,still battling weekly heart issue but to darn mean to give up.

Thanks guys. She is a new layer and this is the first time so Im not too worried but i will mix some oyster shell in with her feed.
