Robin, I was thinking the same thing regarding the temperatures. It seems mighty early for 90 degree temps. I clicked on the Nevada thread by accident since it was below the Okie thread - they were talking about receiving snow earlier this week!
The hen with the bare neck is likely at the bottom of the social totem pole and gets attention from the roo more frequently than the other hens. I wonder if a childs sock, with the toe cut out, could be slipped over her head to protect her feathers?
Thats a great idea! i had been thinking of ducktape- but the sock idea makes more sense- she one of my ee's and not at the bottom, but probably close to it-
Hey folks! Finally at a sitting down point! Got up and left early for the sales. Dropped one bunch of big birds off at the local auction and took everything else to the Elkton Ky sale. The big birds(standardfowl) are the only ones the vet checks at Elkton so if I don't have any of those he doesn't notice me slipping in other stuff. (not just me but other people from Tn.)I had one pen at the local auction that was an austra white trio. They sold them as all roosters! Didn't bring as much! Then I looked at the ticket and the buyer was one of the ring guys that sets them up! He has driven a lot of customers off doing shady stuff like that, sad part is the auctioneer is to dumb to realize it!
But everything sold well at both places so it was a good day. I bought another new buck rabbit, the one I bought last week I took back as he had been in afight and was no longer any good for breeding! And I got twelve more guniea pigs, although I lost one on the way home from the heat! Yes it was that hot here today!
They sold several potbellied pigs during the cattle part, and they brought $10-15 . So during the poultry part someone had put two tiny pot babys in boxes and attached bottles and sold as pets! Crazy people after seeing what the adults brought paid $59 for the first one and $191 for the second one! They were so young I doubt they even live! Stupid!

We were pretty hot for awhile then the wind came back up and it cooled just a little.
Hope everyone has fun at the auction tonight
