Why not order fayomi chicks from a hatchery like Ideal since no one local has them?

I agree. I used to have them, they were great birds. I bought them at our local feed store several years ago (they came from Privett Hatchery in New Mexico) but sold out to downsize & specialize on fewer breeds. They are great birds ... hens lay at 4 months old! Good luck finding them!

Morning all............ decided to stay home one more day, anything interesting going on ??.

You might want to look at the Golden and Silver Campines... Its the same thing when ordering from the hatchery Ideal hatchery has them listed as campines

Actually, the fayoumi chicken is similar but different. http://www.privetthatchery.com/home/prdlist.aspx?search=fayoumi

Here's a picture of some of the Egyptian Fayoumi that we used to raise. I really liked them.

I got mine from Carla and really enjoyed them but needed the space to concentrate on other breeds. I found the roos to be a little on the game side. My buddy found that coons really enjoyed eating them

Very pretty...do you think they would work well as a free ranger?

Probably so, but I bet they'd like to roost in trees, and like Teach says .... predators will think they're tasty too.
