If people need DE I can bring some to POOPS with me. The feedstore I buy it from in Norman sells, 5lb, 10lb, 20lb (I think) and 50lbs bags. I usually by 10lb bags, for I believe $15 but I will need to get back to you on the price. The reason I only get a 10lb bag at a time is because of storage issues. If there are enough people interested I can buy a 50lb bag and we can split it up. Windex and vinegar will probably work temporarily but will have to applied daily to be effective. For flea and tick control adding brewer's yeast and a little garlic powder (only a little and it has to be the powdered form because heavy doses and fresh garlic can be toxic to dogs), is very helpful.

You can give garlic powder to chickens, as well but I have heard that it can be tasted in the eggs.

How much is a 50lb bag of DE? What store is it in norman, and do they keep it on hand, or do you have to ask them to order it?

I will have to get back to you on the price for 50lbs, planning on running by tomorrow after work. I get my DE at Ellison Feed on Porter Street. They have been there forever. Most of the time they keep it in stock but if they do not have it they will order it and get it in pretty quick.

I had that happen last year and I did a few experiments with my set-up. Seems that I was putting my waterers too close to the light. They were getting too hot and building up pressure forcing the water out.

Hi MJ
Sorry to hear about your loss. I have had the same things happen.

Good news the eggs I gave you are definitely fertile. All the ones under my hen are developing and I had my first millie chick hatch but it is mostly white. Not sure what is up with that. Do they usually get their color in when they get their feathers in?

After the first I will save up eggs for you unless you would like me to give you chicks. I will have one hatching pretty much ever 3 or 4 days now for the next three weeks. I stuck all my millie eggs under my showgirl hen who has been just dying to brood. Gave her a nice nesting box (aka llama food container they broke the lid on), stuck eggs under her and she is happy as can be.

P&B if you read this check out Fayettville,Ark,craigslist, farm section, nice pair of elliots phesants for sale. I have never seen that breed before! If you were interested maybe some of the eastern boys could get you a pheasant train going!

yeah that cowboy feller is my buddy!

Well looks like we had about .5" of rain when last I checked!!! Sure is needed but I am a whimp and don't like playing in the rain. Hope the animals understand that feed and rain don't really mix!

Got me a bunch of little furry critters to take to school tomorrow! LUNCH!!!

MJ! I am so sorry!

what kind of brooder are you using, i use the spare bathroom tub, till they get big enough to move out to the big coop-

how long do i need to keep my cochin hen separated with her bumblefoot? she is still limping some, i don't see any swelling though

Robin it takes a long time for Bumblefoot to heal. There are not that many blood vessels that run through the legs and that makes them durn slow to heal.

Expect to see a little improvement in about a month.
