Oklahoma Poultry Federation... Shawnee, OK

Sundowner and Na Na check out our "Okies in the BYC" thread.
I will put your names on our List. It is in the first thread and we have around 130 Okies that float in and out.

We are headed that way. I know we will be hauling some birds. I have some OEGB mille fluers that aren't real well marked but thought someone might have a use for them...a few araconas that I am not messing with anymore...a few that i just wanted to see what would happen (had a hen that laid big eggs for her size and well she breed so nice), also a few pigeons, and a bunch of quail. We won't be showing since I lost my show ready birds to a bunch or dogs...my dogs. Anyways...neat show great sale section last year got some good birds.

I've been doing some reading and have a question....guess it is
more intended for OKIEs attending the Oklahoma Poultry Federation
Show.

The "dubbing" of Old English Game birds........ Some info says
the January after their hatch year, some says by November of
their hatch year.

OK, "dubbing" is ILLEGAL in the state of Oklahoma????????....
or maybe the law has changed since this material was printed,
or maybe since people from other states come to a big show
like this, it's "how it's done" ??????

Am wondering what this KID has gotten Na-Na into.....LOL
Any information would be greatly appreciated.

Have a good one !

Basicly dubbing is required after November 1st, although to really compete they should be dubbed.

Cockfighting has been outlawed not dubbing. Also the dubbing of Old English is different from the way cockfighters dub their birds.

Most folks wait until the fall to dub because the cool helps slow the bleeding. Also, due it and then turn off the lights...the others won't pick on them.

It is part of the standard so not illegal...yes it was part of cock fighting and is done now to reflect that past? Sound kinda right?

Thanks to all for all your info. The KID went to a show here in
Cherokee County this morning. 6 birds - 6 blue ribbons and won
a monogrammed camping chair for Reserve Grand Champion
of Show. So, he's campaigning hard....LOL

I've been holding off, but looks like I'll be sending his entry forms
in to Shawnee. We're really looking forward to watching a show of
this magnitude and learning how it's done.

Do any of you wear "Okie" tags or something so we can say
"Hi" ???

Have a good one !
