Hmmm... thinking about categories is thought-provoking. It would be nice if this article were to complement the rising definition of heritage by helping to further it, clarify it.

How about:

Ancient: Early Foundational (Dorking, OEG, WFBS, etc..)

Traditional: Late Foundational (La Fleche, Ancona, Crevecoeur, Hamburg, Minorca, Lakenvelder, Dominique, etc...)

Victorian Composites (through turn of century) (Plymouth Rock, Wyandotte, Orpington, etc...)

Early Industrial ( RIR, NH, Barnevelder. etc...)

Late Industrial (Delaware, Holland, etc...)

Very nice.
It bothered me to see "Victorian" try to span almost 100 years. Her Majesty was mighty influential, but not quite *that* much.

Still, I'll miss those "Modern" and especially "Post-Modern" classifications. Just blame it on the artist in me.

What about Modern Composites then?

Joe,
I like the Early/Late Industrials, but I was trying to make it as simple as possible with as few categories as possible: let me keep thinking: y'all keep writing.

On this side of the muddy pond the good Queen was influencial long past her death.

What about early modern instead of Victorian, and late modern instead of post modern? Post modern doesn't make sense without a modern period. You could also call 1945- present contemporary, in which case you could call the Victorian modern.

These are the trio of Buttercups we have. They were from the Iowa city show, the roo and hen got 1st and the other hen 2nd. They are 3 years old. We don't really know much about the breed or much with show birds yet.
