Marand County : is a county in East Azerbaijan Province in Iran. The capital of the county is Marand. At the 2006 census, the county's population was 229,215, in 59,097 families.[1] The county is subdivided into two districts: the Central District and Yamchi District. The county has five cities: Marand, Bonab Jadid, Koshksaray, Yamchi, and Zonuz. marand mountian region in east.azerbaijan (iran)

When I was a soldier I worked alongside 150 Azerbaijan soldiers daily stationed in Iraq. They were great guys who guarded our gates for us, and I always enjoyed talking to them trading bits of language and such. One funny bit of information, when they first arrived at our base, my captain must have been told that they were from Azerbaijan "near Armenia", and he thought he had been told they were Armenian. He asked me to go with him to greet them since my wife (at the time- we aren't married anymore) was Armenian. As soon as I met them I was like, "Sir, you made a big mistake here, Armenia and Azerbaijan were nations at war very recently!" Big mistake, lol. Nevertheless, the Azerbaijan soldiers were always very nice to me even though I was introduced to them as the soldier with an Armenian wife, haha.
Glad to see the chickens and be reminded of these old days! Very pretty birds.
