Old Chickens?

So I bought some Two hens and a rooster from a lady around four days ago. I was told the hens were around 1 year old. Neither hen has yet to lay an egg. Does it take awhile for a hen to get comfortable enough to lay after a big move like that?

It can and they might also be in the middle of a molt give them some more time.

no problem BUT you might want to keep and eye on the hens and make sure the roo is't "over breeding" them . That's not a lot of hens for one roo.

When I got 3 hens from a guy he said they weren't currently laying but I put oystershells in a separate dish for them and they started laying after a week or so.

Chickens do not care for change. They will probably start again soon. Give them a good look over and make sure all is well. Good luck to you, and hopefully you'll be in eggs right directly

They usually start laying once they are settled down, maybe a week or two
