It looks like you are on the right track.I think you have done an excellent job so far.Seeing that you live where you are keep their safety in mind.Is this the first experience you've had with chickens. It doesn't appear so.Keep the good work going.

No I have not had chickens before but I have done my research. I am also a bit of a perfectionist so I don't mind taking the extra time to do something right. We have lived in our new place for a month now so I have been busy checking out all the chicken keeping web sites getting ideas and trying to take in as much info as possible. In the end I want my birds to be happy, healthy, and safe. I am having a lot of fun so far and I think that this chicken thing I am getting in to might become a bit of an addiction lol.
Love your coop situation - how lucky to have those good bones of the old coop on your land!! I imagine that old coop is happy to have chickens in it once again. I was also going to ask where you were from, because it reminded me a little of where I have a cabin up in North Idaho (funnily enough very close to Kootenai County, which I'm assuming derived it's name from the same native tribe).
I am very grateful that this old coop came with our place and that I have the opportunity to breath some new life in to it. This is a good hobby/project for me as I like animals, I like building/renovating stuff, I like eggs, and oh yeah I like chicken too!
