Old Coop Reno! (my first coop)

Hi Kevlar - nice coop. I too inherited an old coop with nice bones. Unfortunately it recently had chickens and they weren't well looked after, so my first task was a total cleaning and disinfection. Not a nice introduction to chicken keeping. After a month of renos I finally got my day-olds. Now at five months they're on the verge of laying and seem quiet content in the old building. One thing I did was put shutters on all windows and pop holes so I can lock them in tight at night. Coyotes and winter. I live near Enderby, in the North Okanagan, and have been through your area many times. Love it there. Welcome.

I will post more pics this weekend probably, I work long hours and its to dim for pics when I get home from work, I do most of my fixing up on weekends too. the inside looks allot like it did before except I moved the nesting boxes. The coop had an existing and quite large roosting area and drop board/bench and I kept that. I am planning on building some kind of gravity fed feeder that I can mount on the wall, and I have a large corner that I will turn in to a brooding area for when we get new chicks in the spring.

So a little progress today the girls got some new window trim

and after I finished that I thought that maybe they needed a new pop door

I still need to install a latch for the door but the inside one that slides up and down is still in place, they also got a new ladder for their roost but I forgot to take pics of that. I still need to get some pics of the inside.
