What do you do with hens who just aren't producing any longer?

I keep them. They're still so sweet, so I love to have them around. Some people cull them or may sell them to another home, though.

I usually will use them for dinner, though if there is a good broody hen, id always keep her. of course this only works if u use broodies

I, personally, view "retiring" them to live out their days well cared for as my repayment for their years of "work" providing eggs. That said, I have no issue with making a meal of them etc if space does not allow or needs require it.

They make the best broth. Like aged, fine wine or cheese or similar. Simply the best.

In that case, I would suggest selling her as a retired hen. Some people take in hens past their prime just because they want to.
