my thoughts exactly. Had to be on day 19.They must be on day 19 if they're chicks and were due on Monday.
How is your hatch going? Have you reached day 23 yet? Have you candled any of the eggs?
I hope to never use an incubator againNext year i am going to hatch eggs with a incy for the first time!!, I dont really want to many chicks so if theres a broody i will hatch out auto sex chicks and she can have the ones that i would like to keep in my flock![]()
As soon as I even think about an Inc somebody gives me orphans and i am cured. Today, broody two is teaching her bunch how to go up and down the ladder....I am watching from the poach...yawn. I suppose if it were the only way...but still...to much work!
Yesterday, it poured rain. Vertical walls of it, leaves flying, etc. So when i went to check everyone, the other way I could tell who was who, one hen decided to sit it out in te run and the other stayed in the coup. Who was dry, and who was soaked was a good indication of which chick belonged to which mama. She didn't seem to notice them scolding her for letting them get soaked, since she was busy drying her feathers - after all, she was the most wet, having been the umbrella for most of it....maybe she thought they all could use a bath. The sun came out and all are shiny and fluffy again-and so clean! Ready for Sunday school!
Great pics Rookie! Congrats.I have 7 little fuzzy butts! Momma is already teaching them how to scratch and use their water dish. 4 mutts (came from a layer pen with a Buff Orp roo and several breeds of hens) and three Silkies with amazing! foot feathering. What layer could be mixed with a buff orp to get a dark skinned chick with a single comb? I cant remember what all he has in that pen.
