Old Fashioned Broody Hen Hatch A Long and Informational Thread

1 Week to go! and I think I'll have7-9 more chicks! EDIT: yes Im counting them before they hatch...

Just started another half silkie setting on 8 Buff Orpington eggs. This is her second time hatching for this year. I use my silkies and silkie crosses for all my hatching. Need replacement egg layers and roosters for the freezer. They seem to fill the role quite well.

I use my bantams for the same thing, they always come through for me.

its day 22 now nothing yet .. i could candle them maybe it wont hurt them to candle now ??

YES theres a little pep hole cracked in the egg i can see it pushing through from the inside the shell was pushed out some i hope that one makes it out

so happy can't wait to see them i will be on most of the day to keep you guys posted

I have such a bad feeling both of my chicks are boys

anytime up to 24 hours

oh so i will prob see the babies tomorrow .. i was out listening to the chick i herd it hatching and breaking its shell and peeping
