I think its good when two hens bring them up together like myne did, it makes me feel safer latting them run off into the feild...![]()
One hen was broody for 2 weeks before we could get her eggs. She lasted until day 19 when I came home to cold eggs. Gave the eggs (candled and threw out 2 eggs) to the broody #2 who took to them like bees to honey. Broody #1 apparently still wanted to be broody so both are hatching eggs. 4 have hatched but I could not prevent 1 from getting in with the other chickens so one died. Three dry babies that I know of. They were dry when I saw them for the first time. One with furry legs!
Ha! We'll see what happens! I am in heaven.. so excited!
, im soo happy my hens braught their two up together, i felt safer about leaving them in the feild when they were little, but Melow just comes and goes now, and the orpington is a full time mum still.
