Old Fashioned Broody Hen Hatch A Long and Informational Thread

I have eggs in the incubator (day 16 today) and after candling them today, most look like they are at about day 12 according to the "chicks are here" egg candling photos. Most seem to be very active and moving about but not quite as totally dark as they are in the photos. Should I wait to go into lock down, which would be on Tuesday? Thanks. They went into the bator on Feb. 18th.

I would go by what day you are on, not by what you see inside the shell. I think that can be very deceptive. I would lockdown as usual. Best of luck! FYI, I'm only on my first incubator hatch, but I find we often complicate things! :)
The egg has not changed
What day are you on? 23? Did you candle the egg to see it had not changed?

So true, I feel like an expectant father, never mind mother. Pacing, worrying.....

Good luck with your hatch too.

I candled the egg again, it lookes like there is less black than the last time I candled it. It's not moving.

However the three eggs I have under a different hen that are going to hatch this weekend are alive and wiggling around!
