The barring is now obvious on the little rocks... the australorps have the yellow chests and masking...
If yours are mixed, then the differences will probably not be quite as obvious.

Lovely, e+ (wildtype..stripe on skull), not eb (brown...brown helmet). There is another gene going on there too because the sides of the stripe are serrated, not straight. Plus the dorsal stripe is in two pieces instead of being a continious stripe from tail to top of head. Still, I think this will be a real pretty chicken.

We think she's pretty special!

I just candled my eggs. I saw movement in 3 but the EE are hard to tell. All I could see is a dark shadow. Any ideas. This is day 8

I never saw movement in my eggs. All I ever saw were dark shadows but this was my first hatch. I wasn't always sure what I was seeing.

Leave them in the nest anyway. I didn't see anything in my Wellie eggs or AM egg and I ended up with 2 Wellies and an AM. All roosters. If they are clear, crack or stink I toss, otherwise I give them the benefit of the doubt.

Bobbiechicks, if (if why say if?! we all know she will) Topsy goes broody again you need to put a Vanilla Ice egg under her!

Haha. She might. She's already content in her little side coop area. Vanilla ice has been mated by both the Maran and the Partride silkie, so it would be interesting to see her off spring. I may have to do it just to see if I get an olive egger in the end. Lol

One thing I have noticed about chicks to hen and rooster, the colors they start out aren't necessarily the colors they end up at maturity. Even my White Leghorns started out yellow.

her wound is healing well. Probably within a week Ill let her have the little silky in there as a friend, but want her feathers back in place before she returns to the larger group. She's getting little pin feathers coming in so maybe a couple of weeks.

They are not clear, cracked, or stinky. Not do I see a blood ring. It's just dark. I'm gonna leave them a few more days befor I decide. Thanks a bunch

I never saw movement and only saw dark spots. if the dark spots get bigger then leave them!! All mine hatched and I never saw anything!!
