As far as I know as long as it can breathe it should be ok. That egg isnt super pointy so probably enough room for the chick to turn around while its pipping.

Last night my momma hen who has 6 SFH chicks that are just 2 weeks old, was up on the roost with the other hens!
The chicks were chirping away, trying to find their momma.
I took momma off the roost & carried her back to the other coop. She promptly took her chicks into the area where she brooded her chicks, they sleep there at night.
She is my third broody this year. First broody stated with get chicks till 8 weeks, second broody stayed with her chicks till week 5.
This is way too early!!!!!!
Very puzzling!!!!!!
Quote: No clue just sometimes a critter is born breach.... Make sure that egg gets back under momma so it doesnt shrink wrap.
Lockdown on hens is the same as incubators. They NEED that moisture to keep things lubricated inside so they can turn around. Oh and sometimes the hen will assist so dont get worried if she pecks at it a little.

I have that same ark. Have some polish bantams in it right now but I very seriously considered using it for my broody. I'm also very seriously considering it for rooster that needs to learn his place.![]()
