Oh my gosh! There are three chicks under her! Guess the eggs weren't duds after all.

:). What breed is she??

She is a Rhode Island Red I bought at the local feed store as a chick along with 5 other pullets for my Maran to brood last year when she wouldn't stop being broody (sounds familiar). She's the only one to go broody from the clutch.

She just hatched three White Leghorn chicks I purchased shipped eggs. Hope they aren't all roosters. Lol

Well she had six to hatch and the two dead ones from this morning left four eggs remaining. She has two fluffed out chicks and one still drying under her. I couldn't tell where the last egg was located as she is sitting pretty low on the nest drying the third chick. Yeah! Three is a good number. I'll know later tonight what happened to the fourth egg when I clean up her nest box. She will probably move the chicks tomorrow, so I may wait until then to clean. I'm just giddy!

So cute! Congrats! Thats what you get for thinking the worst! Do you still have that hen I think Smokey or Topsy hatched? Vanilla Ice I think she was called?

Went to check on them. Found the RIR on the floor of the coop with one chick under her. The other two chicks were still up in the nest under the partridge silky. She wasn't happy when I moved her back on the nest with fake eggs and put the two babies under their new mom. I moved the unhatched egg under the silky and she settled back down. There's nothing happening in it, but she's happy sitting on it.
