Old Fashioned Broody Hen Hatch A Long and Informational Thread

My broody's eggs are on day 16, and are due to hatch on Monday (day 21), they are cream legbar rooster over small LF hens, will these take all 21 days to hatch, or hatch earlier?

Good luck! No one can answer your question accurately; too many factors influence hatching times. Figure 21 days, but be prepared...

Ok question chicken friends, I have let momma and her 7 chicks with the others. Momma having a heck of a time teaching them how to use the ladder to get back in the house. Whew! Chicks are almost 2 weeks old now and have been fed the medicated chick starter feed. But now the big hens want to eat their food. Is there a feed for all of them and are they old enough for it now?
From my experience, broody raised chicks don't need medicated feed. They simply don't seem to get any of the problems (coccidiosis) that occurs frequently with hatchery or even bater hatched chicks.

Went out this morning to see how momma was doing, no babies yet but looks like quite a few eggs are pip. ( I believe thats what its called) Now i guess i wait for the zip! Lol :cd :jumpy
